Yes @Helen P3 they weren't that concerned, so I just keep a peeled eye on the bank account for anything suspicious.
Also...I have had issues with BT and Virgin before.
With BT someone had used my address to set up an account, but in a different name and with a different phone number.
I started to receive bills for £500, £600 and £900 all in the name of a stranger, I tried to explain to BT that the person did not live at this address and never had, plus I told them to come and check the landline to see if there was more than one phone number running along side mine.
It was like banging my head against a brick wall, when I started to receive letters from a debt collection agency I blew my top and threatened them both with legal action, after that it stopped.
With Virgin, someone in Chester le Street was using my email for an account, same route again and legal action was threatened and it all stopped.
I've had another one starting with I have all your passwords I haven't opened it so don't know what they want but I would hope that if they had my passwords they would have used them rather than emailing me
Years ago walking over the Charles Bridge in Prague I was stopped by a local who showed me a diamond ring or so he said and explained he saw it fall out if my back pocket. Ignoring this stupid suggestion we kept walking with him following still claiming it was mine until he gave up and went back to his spot on the bridge. Does anyone know how this scam would have worked as it still puzzles us to this day?
It is bizarre isn't it? I wonder if the whole performance plays on the "quick buck psychology". That is you might be tempted to accept the ring (surely a fake) against a small recompense. So the guy gets a tenner or even more because you think you are getting something valuable out of the blue. It's a greed scam.

I nearly went for it but realised that the text was from a mobile number and the word ‘lastest’. 🤣
Had this one today. So very not true. Run my ant-virus stuff and reported it.
Good day.
Your system has been hacked with a Trojan virus.
It has penetrated your device through adult portals which you sometimes visit.
Some
spicy videos contain malicious code that activates after being turned
on. Your entire information has already been copied to my servers.
I possess complete control over your device which you use to access the Internet.
I can see your screen, I can use a microphone and a camera in a way that you never notice anything.
I've already made a screen recording.
A video was edited with a pornographic movie that you were watching at that time and masturbating.
Your face is perfectly visible and I don’t think that this kind of content will have a positive impact on your reputation.
I
have an overall access to your list of contacts and the social media
profiles. I can send this video from your E-mail or the messengers.
If you don't want to let this happen, then you only need to take one simple step.
Just transfer 1200 USD (US dollars) to Bitcoin wallet: bc1qqsm0xsdr40awd5hyp5ncm95fyshtpvt9zqnxc9
(In a Bitcoin equivalent at the exchange rate for the time of transfer)
You can find the detailed instructions in Google.
After the payment I will remove the video and the virus from your device and no one will bother you anymore.
If I won’t receive the payment in due time, all of your data and the videos will become publicly available.
I give you 2 business days.
I shall receive a notification that you have read the letter.
The timer starts immediately.
Any complain somewhere, including the police, is useless. My wallet and an E-mail cannot be tracked.
If I find out that you have shared this message with someone else, the video will become publicly available at once.
I will destroy your reputation forever and all your data will go public.
Everyone
will learn about your passion for the porn sites and more. Changing the
passwords will be useless either as all the data is already on my
servers.
Don't forget that reputation is very important and be prudent!
