A few delivery companies are asking for a signature before hand,  it’s not sign to say you’ve received it but to say you will be there.  It’s usually only for expensive items.

  • A man phoned this morning, offering a 30% discount to O2 customers.  He then sent a text with a one-time-passcode and asked for it to be read out to him!  When I contacted O2, they said it was definitely a scam.

The call came, apparently, from a” Liverpool” number: 0151 453 1041.

Thank you, Danae.  I googled the number; here's what I found:
19 hours ago — 01515431041 is a landline and located in Liverpool (UK). This number has been searched 379 times. Calls started on 24 August 2023.

I haven't yet had this particular "offer" but, recently, I've had several similar ones.  If they claim they're from a bank/company etc. of which I'm a customer, sometimes I ask them to give 3 specific details of my account, chosen by me, so as to prove that they truly are, or, in a certain tone, I ask them if they would like my password.(!!) I learnt the latter from Danae.  Invariably, the line goes dead.

And this is what I found in addition to the above:

"it cannot be important"  The tone is wonderfully apt!

Call this morning claiming to be from BT Security saying that someone was trying to use our Internet connection. The number was a genuine BT number, but the caller did not know who the account holder is, so a scam call. If in doubt, put the phone down and ring BT on their free number.

I've just received this wonderful email.  Screwfix, whoever or whatever they might be, have sent me good news:

    OH has called them, "Screwloose".

  • The scammers must be saving up for Xmas as I have gone from zero emails/phone calls to daily over the past week?
