Some advice from my bank too:

Always use the FCA Register to check if the firm is authorised to provide investments- and to verify their details. If they're not on there, it's probably a scam.

Beware a telephone scam on the rounds now supposedly from people wanting to buy up centrica shares at a hugely inflated price than their real value (ten fold 😂). Claim to be from Apple Creek, in the USA, wanting to have a majority share holding by buying up as many shares they can get from smaller shareholders. They want you to sign a disclaimer. I presume the next step would be for you to forward a smallish amount of money in order for them to release the larger payment for your shares. They then have bank details. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

As some of you will know, Robin Wight of Fantasywire, hand makes the fairies in the Fairy trail at Trentham Gardens in Stoke on Trent. Some of the dandelions are at Wisley as well.  He lives not far away, and when I collected our three dandelions, he showed us how he was  making them.  There are lots of chinese sites advertising these for sale, at anything between 10 and $30 . They say it is a closing down sale, going out of business,  and  show Robin Wight copyright photos on their scam site.  Then if you are stupid enough to part with money you get a small cut out of a fairy made from some cheap metal. The Fantasywire fairies are rarely sold, when I visited him he had just put one for sale on ebay and was astounded when it hit £20,000.   It takes him weeks if not months to make each fairy, with hundreds of pounds worth of stainless steel wire in various grades.  He used to cost it on the cost of materials plus so much per hour.  As I said to him, this is unique art, it can't be replicated.  It is worth what someone is willing to pay.  He gave us a  wire arm and hand to see if it could be 3D scanned to see if small reproductions can be made. With the latest scanners it doesn't work.   He now does photos on his site and some mugs made by dunoon in stoke on trent.   Ignore chinese scammers, on facebook and on Amazon.  The genuine fantasywire fairies can be seen at Trentham Gardens.   https://trentham.co.uk/estate-gardens/trentham-fairies/
and there are lots of photos on his own site.    https://fantasywire.co.uk/

If its not from the pop up shop at Trentham gardens or from his own website, its a scam.

    Goodness!

@steephill It is common in Italy.

Be wary of parcels in the name of "grandchildren" who ordered "expensive computer" against payment of money otherwise said grandchild is going to get a beating. Happened to a friend last week. She lost 4000 euros.

Also this is going around in Italy, no doubt it will cross the frontiers soon. As you drive along a road someone from a stationary car will throw something against your car. Then will follow you and ask to stop, show you broke their mirror and ask for money. You are hassled, don't want to involve insurance and pay up in cash.

I have found a video from the States, there are plenty in other languages.
