Yes, Philippa, but it would seem "boring cash" is easier to trace!!  :D

You could email the admin team but using the email address from the Contact Us page on the website, not from the email you received and ask them @pansyface
If it's a scam then they need to know but they wouldn't mind you contacting them if it was genuine.
I've just Google Freegle but nothing came up but that doesn't mean much.

I wouldn’t be too sure about that Freegle coming in an email,  did you check the address of the sender,
The begging letter is genuine but I’m not sure of that one @pansyface received.

The only ones I can find on the net are like this,  blue ones.

If there's some doubt you could forward it to Freegle @pansyface

I received the same mail - if you hover over the links, they all seem legit and the mail headers appear to show it coming from freegle. BUT I would always advocate, if donating anywhere, to contact the site with an address you know and arrange a payment through them.

It was also sent to an email address that I use for that site.

It looks like Freegle is alive and well in my area.

Here's a copy of their contact page which has a different email address from your email.

They say they are a registered charity. Think I'd send them a copy of your email, scammers are everywhere  :/

It seems it's genuine - Contacted the treasurer (from a non linked to the mail address) and got this:

    Hi Steve,

It is from us - here is more info for the technically minded:

    Regards,
    Jane
    Treasurer, Freegle Ltd.
Freegle is registered as a charity with HMRC (ref. XT32865)'

    and that EMail header said:

BUT, BUT, BUT, IMO it is NEVER a good thing to disclose anything, or give money from an unsolicited mail/text/phone call...etc. If you want to donate, go through a channel you KNOW is legit.
