I had a phone call last Friday . Apparently Saint Gobain glass are doing big grants for installation of their planitherm double glazing. They would test my existing double glazing and then show me what they could do for me.
Error number 1. They should not have cold called me as I am on the telephone preference service.
Two calls later and they have booked me in to test my glass.
Lie number 1. Saint Gobain glass are not offering grants for installing their double glazing. The government scheme ended last March.
The lady making the appointments variously called themselves Just Glass or Just glass windows and doors.
Just Glass in any shape is not listed as a trusted installer by Saint Gobain glass.
Checks at companies house show Just glass Ltd was wound up in 2016. Just Glass Limited , incorporated 2018 has an active proposal to strike off.
Checks on trustpilot for Just Glass yield 34% 1 star reviews. Mainly to do with prices going up, poor installation , deposits not being refunded if people changed their mind and County Court judgements not being paid.
They phoned again this morning. I said not to bother as Just glass limited are being wound up.
"Thats not us, we're Just glass windows and doors." I then mentioned the county court judgements and reviews on trustpilot. He spluttered a bit more and gave up. It's peeing it down here. I guess he really didn't want to stand outside in the pouring rain to test my windows.
Not a scam but it feels like one and I have already mentioned it on another thread. Purchased toothbrushes from Sainsburys £140.00 Argos under the same roof and owned by Sainsburys £70.00. Sainsburys not interested said 'if you make a complaint we won't reply.' So please be aware. The mark up must be huge. I have contacted Oral B but they will say it is up to the seller.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
Recently I ordered some pillowcases online from M and S. The ticket on them said 1.50 less than I had paid for them. Obviously old stock in the warehouse no one had repriced. M and S foodhall refused to exchange my "Bag for life" they don't do them anymore apparently, you just have to pay for a new one. I went to Macarthur glen, M and S outlet. I bought a pair of jogger bottoms for "Outlet price" 17.50. Same price as online. When I got home the ticket on the inside label said £15. I used to spend a lot of money in there. It's going to be a lot less in the future.
Not sure if it counts as Scams, but at the moment we are getting dozens a day of Emails offering all sorts of things, mainly American. Lots of "We tried to deliver" type ones too. So far all going into Spam so not cluttering up the inbox. And before you suggest it we cannot change the email address as it would lose us the money from doing surveys.

If you receive any unexpected calls or texts from brands,
double-check that these are genuine by contacting the company yourself. Any
details you give away can be used to scam you in the future.
·
Use a password manager or create unique hard to guess passwords for each

·
Always set strong
passwords, and have a unique one for every single website. Using
easy-to-remember passwords and reusing the same passwords across lots of
websites is not secure. If you’d like to securely store all of your passwords
for different accounts we recommend using a password manager.
I got an email from Halifax saying they'd suspended my account cos I hadn't confirmed my phone number. The sender gave a stupid name and I rarely use the account as it's for savings. Also, if it matters, I only go in person to the branch. Sent on to the Fraud Squad and I'll take a printout in tomorrow.
