How is anyone supposed to turn Vegan when Waitrose is offering a block of cave aged, truffle infused Kaltbach cheese for ÂŁ1.57? Last time I went it was a very fine Cornish Yarg which was both creamy and delicious. I mean I'm sure vegan cheese is fine and leaves you with a lingering aftertaste of self satisfaction, but it'll never be the same. :(

Lingering aftertaste is spot on! Haven’t tried them for a while, but I was trying to buy a vegetarian version of Parmesan, and tried a couple of versions. Not sure if they were even vegan, but they were so truly disgusting that I couldn’t manage more than a taste before binning them. Since then found in Waitrose, a rennet free Parmesan which was really good.

Obelixx, many many years ingrained. Born in 1950, you didn't say no to your Father. I watched operations on TV was fascinated. At 8 decided I wanted to nurse. He wanted me to join the Police,I wasn't tall enough. He never accepted my choice of career. Then I married a psychotic control freak (no living together then) a lot of years of not saying no. Interestingly, when I have done psychological evaluations,I am a people pleaser,a carer,a nurturer, and I had the perfect job.

Yes @Nanny Beach but you grow up, try to manage self destructive behaviours, have children yourself and learn to say No.

Not sure why but we watched a Ch4 programme last night, about QAnon. It's a movement in the US all conspiracy theorists,  and well- extremists.  We were at  intrigued and appalled in equal measure.  The worry is some people here seem to be going the same way, anarchy anyone?

The QAnon lot really are scary.  We have plenty of conspiracy theory nutters over here but at least they don't have access to assault rifles.

That's not true. You just made sure you didn't say no within earshot of your Father. :D

Learning to say 'No', and stick to it, is vital for your own wellbeing.  My wife is one who always had trouble saying 'No' at work and she came close to a breakdown due to it.  One of her bosses was basically incompetent and just kept dumping more and more of the work she should have done herself, but couldn't, on my wife.  In trying to cope with that workload, the other 2 people she was supposed to provide admin support for got more and more annoyed as they weren't getting the support they should have.  Because my wife didn't want to get incompetent boss into trouble she didn't explain why she couldn't cope with the work until it was nearly too late.  That boss still tried to lay all the blame on my wife,  fortunately the truth did finally come out and that person was removed.
