  • Not sure where to put this … I eventually chose this thread as it’s where other discussions charging cars are …

Not really curmudgeonly but a poster on the food thread I post on has also had this problem

    Anyone else come across it?

The people in that Christmas card looked like aliens. We've only seen the front. Do you think there might be a zip up their backs?

I had the opposite thought @B3. Without the guns they look like such a normal family. If you fell into conversation with them, I wondered, how long would it be before you realised they were obsessed crackpots?

I had another look @BenCotto. They're definitely wearing masks.

  • We have an orange wind warning for tomorrow (and a red "violent storm" warning for coastal waters).  Hope Storm Barra decreases before it reaches the UK...

  • @Dovefromabove, I  have not heard of this but when we had our boiler changed (Feb 2020) we were advised by the gas engineer to hang on to our old analogue meters as long as possible.  He said there are still too many issues with smart meters.

I had to put the living room light on at just after midday to read something. I'm all for a bit of rain  (although I'd rather have it in the spring/summer when the plants are growing) but needing the lights on in the daytime makes me curmudgeonly.

This is very true (but I'm still grumpy). Our storm Arwen power cut only lasted a bit over two hours. Long enough to get the candles out and light the gas rings with a match to cook, but not long enough to cause any real problems. I do feel for the people who still have no electricity.

The gun mentality in the USA makes me so glad that I live in the UK, despite the problems we do have.  I was watching a programme about the Canadian Border Control and they stopped a Yank trying to enter with an arsenal of weapons from handguns to military grade rifles.  Said Yank was mightily miffed at being refused entry stating that as far as he's concerned Canada is just another part of the USA.  And somebody that thick is allowed to carry firearms!

Not sure if this should be on reason to be cheerful...
Just heard about the gov's new initiative to clamp down on drugs and potentially removing driving licences and passports from recreational users. Love it. How long before the whole cabinet isn't allowed out of the country and Raab is on Andy Marr saying '...all anonymous, unsubstantiated claims - and anyway, I wasn't there so I saw nothing...'?
