How can the Tories (sorry, - that should be 'this particular bunch of Tories') get away with this?
They (he) has no regard for either the law or the truth and his experience to date is that the general public don't care, so why wouldn't he assume he can get away with it?
He flew from COP 26 by private jet to a dinner with Charles Moore (close personal friend of Owen Patterson), and then changed the law (or is trying to) to protect his mate. It's not hard to guess what has happened, what's been said, and even if that is completely wrong and it's entirely innocent, they must appreciate that that is how it looks.
It speaks volumes that Geoffrey Cox and Dominic Raab - neither of whom I admire, by the way, and both of whom have been on the side of some pretty dodgy moves by this Government - both abstained on this vote
Geoffey Cox, ( our local MP ) was "ticket off" by the standards committee once when he "forgot" to declare £300,000 of income one year. ( I'm sure we've all forgotten such trifling sums of income eh? ) I might have had the teensiest bit of respect for him if he'd had the balls to vote against the government, rather than just hiding behind an abstention. Maybe there are too many skeletons in his own cupboard?
The clocks changing is catching up with me now. I didn't notice for the first few days but now I keep randomly falling asleep. I was making dens with the kids earlier and must have dropped off for a second while laying on the floor, only to be rudely awakened by a small child landing heavily somewhere delicate

There's plenty of them in Boris's cupboard and the press are aware of them ... the press is the puppet-master with this government ... and the DM are setting things up for Gove.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
...didn't the same committee (as it would) investigate Boris a while back as well - when he and Carrie jetted off on holiday 'accommodation paid for' and found him not to have committed any intentional misdemeanour, but nevertheless had a dig for how he had disclosed the holiday's funding? Boris hold a grudge? Bet the commissioner changes - maybe to the man who used to be Carrie's boss? Now that would be a coinkydink.
HIGNFY should be amusing tomorrow night. Hope they have a good host.
Some petty small minded eejit with nothing better to do with their time? Why "rich" 75 year olds think they should get it free is beyond me when poor 74 years olds and younger have to pay it.
Hmm.
I guess that's one way at looking at reality.
I paid tax and and income related NI for my whole working life, I'm still paying a lot of tax and on most of whatever I spend my money, I pay VAT.
So believe me when I say, that it isn't "beyond me" that I felt no qualms of getting a free licence for a few years. That was never "something for nothing."
It's the people of my age and I guess there must be a over a million of them, who are still contributing to the exchequer, who are helping to keep this country going, so that people worse off can still get their benefits. I've no problems with the latter.
How much longer will Naga Munchety be allowed to get away with being rude to the people she works with? Today it was sniping at Charlie which at least meant she was leaving Carol alone. If the positions were reversed, and she was on the receiving end, I can imagine the outcry. When this happens one way it seems it's just 'banter', but when done the other way.....
The programme, I find unwatchable, it's like, "The One Show"......"Blue Peter" for adults.
I'm sure there are people who like both. I don't mind.
senior care home worker. In charge of a team of 7 staff , looking after 15 dementia patients with other "needs" .... £9 an hour. The home charges £7,000 a month . Just as well Bojo the Clown is going " to sort out Social Care" eh?

Ah but according to the report I heard this am, the private jet was fuelled by "Bio fuel" and what carbon emissions ensued were "off set". So that's OK then and no need for us to question it It made no mention of the size of the plane or whether Bojo was the only passenger or not. I'm also wondering why all the Heads of State with their accompanying security, vehicles, etc. have now buggered off and left their negotiators to actually do the work. Why did they not just stay at home send their negotiators to Glasgow ? Or is it simply that H's of S need to get out and about and be seen to do a bit of Elbow Bumping - all pals together sort of thing ? Well, that's my Curmudgeon unless I count the seeds from both my Ash and the one in the Churchyard - with the help of the recent southerly winds, the garden is covered in them. No problem with the Tree Planting Scheme here
