Change of subject.  OH took it upon himself to cut down all my dahlias and cover the bed with a thick lay of our own hay form strimming the wildflower meadow.   All very nice of him you might think.

However, he did it without telling me first and I was waiting for some seed heads to ripen so I could gather seed of one particularly gorgeous, fiery sunset coloured dahlia to see what babies it might make and he's buried the lot on the compost heap under a pile of weeds including nettles.

    Humph!

Has anyone else noticed that whenever OH makes a mistake, it involves less work for them than doing the job properly?

Whatever happened to the January sales?

They at least let retailers sell things at full price and keep their heads above water.

Then they made for a fun post festive season jaunt to look for the things we might have bought if they had been cheaper in December.

I used to enjoy them. But of course the high street stores are dead and gone now. All that we are left with is a screen and a bank card. No joy in that.

They became like the Allied Carpet sales - every day of the year apart from Christmas Day!

Ok, I’m a proper sceptic, none of this Black Friday nonsense for me! However, I needed to buy some dental stuff that was out of stock in the supermarket, and looked on the big high street chemist website. Their Black Friday sale was still running, and they had several things I’m nearly out of, at half price. And buy 2, get the third one free! So I did! Feeling quite chuffed at that. I’ll let them off this time....

The trouble with OH is he has golfing pals who grow tomatoes so now he thinks he knows all about them and when I've corrected or disputed such advice on those and other veggies he's learned to go off and check on the RHS site which, apparently, told him to hack my dahlias despite their still being in flower.   Double humph!

I'm not interested in Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any of the other cons.  When I want something I look for the best reliable supplier and buy it.  If I don't want or need something I don't buy it even if it is in the sale.
  • Every year Which publish data showing how many items are cheaper for many weeks of the year than they are on Black Friday

  • A couple of years ago I bought my first ever Black Friday deal … a Christmas present of a voucher for a short break away in a lovely  country pub for Wonky and her husband as a special treat … they planned to use it in the spring and booked their dates … then Covid struck … the pub have said that one day when they feel safe (her husband is vulnerable) they will honour the money I spent,  but that’s only enough for an evening meal for them … nice but not the real treat Id hoped to give them. It would have been a real bargain if it had happened. 🙄
