Thanks everyone for advice on the car and thanks @Dovefromabove for the link.Ā  I have passed that on to my SIL.Ā  I think in the new year I will definitely look for another car - but if I sell this one am I duty bound to mention that I've had this problem - or just say that I simply don't drive it enough?Ā  Can a local garage see where the parasitic drain might be?

  • There is probably a Honda owners forum for your model of car @didyw … having a look on there and asking a few questions may well give you the information you need.Ā
My son goes on the forums for Ā owners of his car and finds out all the quirks and tips (and sources of secondhand parts too).Ā

We once had a car that had a battery that kept going flat, even though it was driven about 40 miles 5 days a week. Turned out to be a bad connection on the rear windscreen heater.

I think it's time for someone to take Boris gently by the hand and put him quietly to bed in a nice dark room somewhere far away.

Who says the electorate don't think they deserve better than this?Ā  Finding a decent alternative isn't easy if you look at the current shower in Parliament, and I mean all political parties!
To be fair, it was only the Tories who voted him party leader. Says much about the rest of their own party, does it not?

That's true.Ā  I suspect they saw him as a muppet who could be easily controlled.Ā  They missed the obvious - the muppet needs a brain of some kind in order to be controlled.Ā  As for potential challengers, the least divisive would probably be Rishi Sunak.Ā  He seemed to handle the financial side of the pandemic as well as it could be handled.Ā

Re the cars, hubby says it's because the BCM (body control module) doesn't property switch off all electronic stuff, who knew! Apparently the Astra F also suffers. Having been feeling low, first burnt my porridge while posting on here, that I was feeling low. I left the old man's very expensive fancy re chargeable light in the porch when I walked the dogs last night!!!

@didyw  😊 Further to the above and the suggestion from someone (sorry I forget who) of getting a trickle charger …. my son tells me that nowadays you can get a mobile solar powered trickle charger for just such a problem (which is becoming more and more common).Ā
The solar powered charger just sits on your car dashboard and you plug it into the cigarette lighter (or whatever it’s called nowadays) whenever Ā you’re not driving. Ā He says they’re available online from various suppliers including that Big River 😬

He also says the Honda that lives up the road isn’t as new as I thought … it’s had a respray, a refurb and personalised number plates. Had me fooled šŸ™„Ā

  • On the car front we had aĀ  battery going flat on our Toyota, years ago.Ā  It turned out to be an inquisitive Granddaughter who kept switching on the rear interior light. Unusually for me I failed to notice this, before I had already shelled out for a new battery , assuming theĀ  old one was faulty.Ā  It was only when the new one went flat too I got the garage to investigate. Her mother wouldn't let me strap her hands down to the booster seatĀ  so I got her to explain to her little one if she kept doing thisĀ  Ā they were going to have to wait at school another hour, till she could pick them up as I wouldn't be doing it anymore.Ā  🤣

The helpful light on the dishwasher that projects onto the floor to tell you that the machine is on has died. The warranty ran out yesterday :|Ā
