I'd give them a ring. A decent supplier should honour that, OR tell them it packed up last week

The helpful light on the dishwasher that projects onto the floor to tell you that the machine is on has died. The warranty ran out yesterday :|

Manufacturer supplier liability no longer dies with the warranty.  I can't remember the name of the Act of Parliament, but items must have a decent life expectancy.  Warranty period plus one day doesn't seem to fulfil that requirement.

Sale of Goods Act. Goods should last a reasonable time, 7 years often mentioned. Have a look at Money Expert Martin Lewis

Problem is, if they haven't got a new address they'll keep sending things to the address that they have :-( . I'd have just written "Ms xxxx does not live at this address" on the front and stuck it back in the post box, and I might have given up and started binning it by now. If she hasn't given her new address to her pension company, in 14 years, she obviously isn't too bothered about it.

I keep getting mail for the person who lived here [over 8 years since I moved in] I tried doing the 'return to sender' thing and it didn't work, so I opened the envelopes to get a contact email to inform them. I got fed up doing that because it made no difference either. It's to do with shares etc, so she's clearly not bothered about it either.
I had a load of junk mail a couple of months ago, so I sent them that instead.
It remains to be seen whether I get any more....

Lovely lot of mail to be screwed up and put in your compost bin.

Thankfully we don't get much in the way of mail for previous occupants, but a couple of years ago we got one for the original occupants of our house.  We have lived here over 30 years and the people before us were here for 8 years.  Somebody was using a very out of date mailing list.
  • Speaking of out of date mailing lists etc ... I've just had a phone call telling me that my address has been awarded a discount to sign up for the Postcode Lottery.  The fact that they asked for me by a name I've not used in 15 years was the first clue ... when I asked for confirmation of the post code it was the one for the house where I last lived in 2011 .... so I told the poor girl that she and her employers were breaking the law by using out of date data (it's probably not illegal where she was calling from but hey ho) ... she was totally confuddled  .... so I said 'you won't be calling me again will you' and she agreed that she wouldn't ... I said a cheery 'Byeeeeeeeee' and she said 'Byeeeee' back.

Do you think she was going to offer me the chance of signing up for the Postcode Lottery by giving her my bank details? 🤔

When a genuine bank phones , I wonder if they have your mother's maiden name or whatever onscreen.
If they do, I suppose you could check them out by asking them to tell you the first and last letter.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

When my bank calls, I say " I have a direct debit comes out of my account on the Xth day every month for Y pounds. Can you tell me who it's paid to?"
    They normally love it .
