@Busy-Lizzie, you're not alone, we're having problems seeing our respective GPs as well - which I'm surprised at because they were so good at physically seeing people last year and earlier this year. I wonder what's changed? I do wonder whether they are heeding the instructions from their Union not to co-operate but hope not.
We were awake at 3 am drinking tea so slept late this morning. Have only done our usual walk to the village and now it's raining so no gardening today. Might have to do h/w instead as we've visitors popping in tomorrow for a cuppa.
Best wishes @punkdoc and @tui34, hope you get better soon.
It occurred to me after my last post to signpost some additional medical help. We have belonged to an organisation called Benenden Health (www.benenden.co.uk) for many years and for a fairly modest sum each month per person, it acts as a sort of halfway house between full private healthcare and the NHS. One of the benefits from day one is a 24/7 GP helpline or a Mental Health Helpline.
It will also pay under certain circumstances for you to see a consultant or have a diagnostic test IF you cannot get help under the NHS within their time scales.
This might possibly be of interest to some posters? I've no connection to the organisation other than being a member.
That's good @Lyn, my OH must have paid into it for at least 30 years if not more. I believe it originally started as a TB sanitorium for civil servants in the 1920/1930s.
They were very helpful when I needed a hysterectomy a few years ago.
Internet down most of the day for repairs up the road. Seems OK now. I have been sorting and cataloguing an embarrassment of seeds.
@Dovefromabove 2 primary schools and 2 grammar schools and college - no mention of Armistice Day. Not a thing in local communities - villages and big city - nor when I started work in London and then Greater London. Moved to Belgium in 1991 where 11/11 is a public holiday with local officials and old soldiers laying wreaths and flags at the war memorials and a fly past just in our small local town and a much bigger ceremony and fly past in bigger towns and cities.
Maybe it's linked to having lived thru the occupations and having all those war graves, especially WW1 in Flanders and WW2 nearer us and in the Ardennes, not to mention Waterloo memorials too.
I don't remember it being a thing in the UK till the 2000s when the Beeb did stories on aging soldiers, sailors and airmen being forgotten heroes and then reporting more and more people stopping on the day itself in subsequent years.

Rain, rain, rain. 🙄 They are even predicting snow down to 1000 m. Since our peaks across the valley are 1300m, we might be seeing some white stuff. Strange weather for November.
Sunny, bright and 11°C some wind. Feeling better today. 'Flu jab is programmed for today late morning. Other than that, I will probably finish the book I started yesterday. One of Elena Ferrante's books (she wrote "My Brilliant Friend") in French. Staying quiet.
Poor @PatE more rain and even snow!! May be getting the spring we had earlier this year!!
@Obelixx - nice sorting through seeds, I reckon! It always gets that gardening spirit up and going!
