At last, five minutes to read all the posts.
Thank you everyone for all the input, it has been very interesting reading all the advice and information, pity about some of the sniping, but it's a forum and everyone has their own views.
I've decided to take a chance and go for it, as it can't go in till the spring and at the moment I'm potting on everything, while work is in progress, as a small plant it stands a chance of growing and with tlc will be ready for its new position when the time is right.
I've taken on board what everyone has said and although I don't get much time to do as much searching as I'd like, what I have managed to do has been educating.
As someone mentioned, people are very quick to criticise a company if something goes wrong, but a lot of people don't think to recommend if things go right, bit of a mine field in that area.
One of the reasons I was attracted to Miscanthus India Summer was the height and more important the width, I've had to be very selective about the grasses I've chosen because of the area they will be planted in and the space available for each one, but the India Summer has stood out for its beauty and size.
So I'm going to bite the bullet and hope that a good specimen arrives and fulfills my expectations.
Again thank you to everyone for your help.

    A sensible decision.

So impressed with your own work, you posted it twice.
How can you lie there and think of England

Thanks for that I've deleted it, but the truth was worth repeating.
    Let it go now eh?

The OP has made their decision.

  • Gosh this thread brings back memories of the playground...just hideous.
To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow
  • Oh dear, "making up your own mind," means making your own choice after weighing the options. It's your choice as you're paying for it and someone's previous bad experience shouldn't be a deciding factor
It's certainly true that making up your own mind includes weighing up all available  options - I think that's a given.
Whilst other's bad experiences shouldn't necessarily be the deciding factor, they do constitute one of the options to be taken into consideration when making a decision.
When people ask for advice on this forum, they will inevitably receive contrary info which is based on personal experiences - or at least that is what happens in most cases.
If someone says that So and So have been good for seeds or bulbs or WHY and someone else comes along and says So and So were rubbish on the WHY but great on bulbs, then both can be taken into account.  Doesn't mean either one or the other was "wrong" - simply their experience.
