Morning Biglad, Rubee, I’m pleased you are both doing ok. I hope your OH soon feels the benefit of these recent injections. I’m keeping well thank you 😊
Just booked my flu vac for next Tuesday in our last village pharmacy. I will have to pay for it, but that's fine, worth it. I had an invitation in France, would have been free, but the vaccine hadn't yet been delivered.
Sunny here, BBC said it was cloudy. I'll plant some more violas.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hello to all the later arrivals. I made a leisurely drive to 'sco to stock up on victuals. It was very pleasant as there were not too many others inside. I reduced the gentleman waiting behind me at the sanitiser station to hysterics as the pump action bottle dispensed enough disgusting sanitiser to coat at least 10 people it was dripping through my fingers and off the handle of the trolley and by the patches on the ground this must have been a typical occurrence. I wished it had been an alcohol based sanitiser so that least it would have evaporated from my hands. Anyway, mustn't complain I suppose and I did share in his laughter.
Dove, my sister and brother-in-law have to replace their licences this year and at the party on Sunday, sis was trying to find a) a black pen and b) a holder of a photo licence to countersign her picture for her licence. She asked me until she read the small print and realised that relatives were excluded. What a palaver. I must confess I don't remember doing that but I guess I must have.
Ante, I have everything I need now for the biscuits but I was unable to get vanilla sugar and I didn't want to just get a vanilla pod the poke into my sugar jar. I am going to take a look online but am sure that the biscuits will be fine with ordinary sugar.
Hazel, it takes birds a while to 'suss out' feeders. They are quite suspicious of new things or changes in their environment so a good idea to remove the fairy things. Give it a little more time and once the word gets out you will find the feathered friends arriving.
Busy, they were announcing on the 'sco tannoy that anyone over 50 could just go to the pharmacy instore and have a flu injection immediately. I'm not sure if people would have to pay but no money was mentioned. I'm glad that you will have time to visit the family but sorry to hear that your daughter's and her OH's split sounds final.
Since arriving home, the skies have gone very dark and threatening - nothing new there then.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Lily I’m glad you have a lovely woodland walk and the weather was good. A good feeling. Chive I’ve rung my handset before today from my landline to track it down. It’s good you found it. Biglad lovely pictures of the robin and squirrel checking out your garden. LB good to know Chey has had his roof done, best wishes to him and Luco. I hope your feet are feeling better now and you’re warm and cosy with Lily. Dove I’m glad you’re on the mend. Busy I’m glad you’re enjoying your time here with oh. I’ve been to visit rellies and I came back with some dry nuts and fruits to add to my breakfast. Time for a cuppa.
Afternoon all - seem to have had a busy day although I'm not sure much was achieved... One thing I did do was a SM run. I'm joining OH for his final race meeting of the year at the weekend and somehow I volunteered to cater for 5 or 6 on Friday evening. It will be fun getting everyone round the little table (big by m/home standards but tiny compared to our house dining table).
Decided to make chicken tagine. It's a one-pot wonder which I can make and freeze tomorrow. On the day I'll just need to reconstitute some couscous in a bowl with added toasted pine nuts and other stuff and serve it all with a big pot of Greek yoghurt. Shop bought lemon tart for pud - nice and easy.
Hoping to get out to do some more clearing up tomorrow. There's a bit of me quite likes tidying the garden ready for winter. Never seem to do enough though - there's always still loads to clear up in the new year.
Have just booked for my booster jab - next Wednesday. Could have gone tomorrow but I didn't feel too hot after my second one so I'd rather not have that to worry about if I'm going away.
Ante - I hope your neighbour is ok. It does seem a funny time of year to be doing non-urgent roof work.
SGL / Hazel - I've recorded Angela Black to binge watch so no spoilers pretty please🙂 Has it finished yet so I can start?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
LB, I'm glad that you have everything to bake biscuits. Sugar will be just fine.
Rosie, you had a fruitful visit to your rellies. Enjoy your tea.
I'm resting now after walk. Outside is still awful. My poor neighbour didn't sort her roof, contractor came but wind was too strong. I just hope so that it will not rain. I will send package to my sister in Germany so tomorrow I must buy a box. Now is season of fresh mandarins so I'll send her that and few more my products.
