Chive, I hope that you can manage with old glasses. School was fine, we are online. Fortunately no snow. It was cold but next few day it will be warmer.
Dove, here is another cheesophile. I didn't yet find cheese which I don't like.
Resting time here. Tomorrow is already Thursday, how time flies. I'll spend evening with book and tv.
Hello everyone. Note to self - remind sis to check on the opening time of any venue she intends to visit. discovered that she was an hour earlier than she should have been coming to pick me up. Not to worry as we went to the favourite GC instead and we had a mini breakfast with a pot of tea and then we mooched round their various sections. Not quite as many as in the original venue planned but enough to keep us occupied for a few hours. There were a lot of C*******s decorations out but not all. This GC is noted for its splendiferous displays and mini railway that runs through the garden centre. The fact it was mizzling all the time was a bit restrictive so I didn't get to buy any plants. I bought a pair of very sparkly solitaire earrings and gifts for Bestie's granddaughter. Sis was delighted that for the first time ever she was able to buy all her grandchildren little personalised tree decorations - angels for the girls and snowmen for the boys.
T'Bird, sounds like you had a barrel of fun with those two kitties. Hazel, you are not on your own as I have never eaten a boiled cake either. I will join the 'never lived' club as well! I was introduced to eating cheese with my C*******s cake by my Bestie and agree it is a happy marriage. T'Bird, I love Brie de Meaux but it always tastes nicer in France than it does here.
Ante, I dare you to say that you like casu marzu (don't look Hazel)

That’s my problem @Ante30 and there are so many calories …. but I comfort myself with the knowledge that calcium is important for ladies of a certain age ….
LB, I'm glad that you had a nice day. I would love to visit GC like that. You can consider me crazy, but I would try casu marzu. If Bear Grylls can eats everything what is alive, dead and roth I can handle with few larvies.
Very similar fruit and spicing @Ladybird4 ... and if I've planned ahead I'll soak the fruit in tea overnight before making the cake, just as with traditional Bara brith ... but the fruitcake has more butter and two eggs, so is a more moist bake.

It sounds delicious. My mother used to make a lovely cake called Canadian Club Cake which required the fruit to be soaked in cold tea overnight. It was baked in a loaf tin and the slices were gorgeous slathered in butter. It was supposed to be left to cool and stand for at least a day to be at its best but heck, who could wait that long?! I must look in her old recipe book and see if I can find the recipe.

Evening everyone, been to eldest sons today and had a lovely time with the poppets. We had tea there too. It was definitely chillier tonight. @Topbird@Songbird-1 I make boiled fruit cake too, it was my mum's recipe......could be from the stork cookbook, but not certain. Mine is definitely moist, but I wouldn't say sticky. I make mine in a deep round cake tin, so looks like and taste like a fruit cake not Christmas pud. Probably depending on the size of the tin, but mine looks more like a deep Christmas cake, it's delicious, but not rich like a Christmas cake. It's easy to make @Songbird-1 @Ladybird4 glad you had a lovely day with your sister. I'm surprised some plants didn't jump in your basket 😉

Hazel, don't worry. I'll save a piece of cheese just for you.😁
I'll retreat now. There is some interesting program on tv. I wish you all a good night and see you tomorrow.
