Debs keep warm and look after yourself. I hope you are fit and well for next week .
  • Morning @debs64 sorry you're still feeling poorly. Hope you get better soon. I don't like Christmas/ wedding fruit cake, but the boiled fruit cake is aย  much lighter version and moist. It's so easy to make too, I don't put cherries in mine or mixed peel.ย
I'm sure your fiancรจ would like it ๐Ÿ˜‹ Take care Debs.
  • Morning @Rubee sorry you weren't there just now. Yes thank you, had a really good night's sleep. Hope you did too.ย

Ooh sorry SGL, good morning to you and to Debs and Ruby too. It was nice to read that you had a lovely time with the Poppets yesterday. Debs, I am plagued with a recurring cough as I've mentioned before but I do not have Covid. Its a PITA as I did find people in the earlier days looking at me as if I was a plague carrier.
Well guess what people - I can see that it is raining again. Biglad, I did get an email from United Utilities the other day thanking me (amongst others) for saving water and also the fact that we have had 140% of a month's rainfall in ONE WEEK (tell me about it!) so the reservoirs are now back to over 75% capacity which is normal for this time of year.

    Morning all,

I guess I'll find out on Friday @Ladybird4, when I attempt a 'handover'! I've been up since 6am (woke up on the comfy armchair again!) and been busy but not done a stitch of paid work :)ย

The cricket result was disappointing but NZ owed us one. I seem to get very regular offers of no-strings attached free bets so I tend to put them on outcomes I don't want to happen. So a small financial gain softened the blow slightly!

Is anyone familiar with Dead Dog cake? Sounds awful and it may just be a family thing but my mum always used to make it for our birthdays - basically chocolate, crushed Rich Tea biscuits, butter, glace cherries, booze and raisins/sultanas? There is a widespread, modern version (whose name escapes me for the moment!) but where did that name come from?

From the ingredients Biglad, it sounds like a version of 'tiffin' which is a favourite of mine. Where the dead dog came from I have no idea

My daughter makes this but calls it tiffin. Itโ€™s a good one to make with children as almost no cooking requiredย

What's the one with bits of marshmallow in? Morrisons sell it in a bar as part of a meal deal.

    I'm having a senior moment!

Hello all ... I'm late on parade ... broadband has been erratic as 'they' are working on the cabling ... apparently ... they did warn us ... not able to watch the service from the Cenotaph but I had the radio on.ย ย
I've just realised that I'm not stuffed up today and the sinus pain has gone.ย  Hope Debs and everyone else recovers soon too.ย
OH is doing a different shift today ... 12 - 4 ... he won't get a lunch break but he's taken a flask of soup that he'll swig down rather than have coffee.ย  Supper is liver and bacon with bubble and squeak ... all prepped and ready to cook.ย  Not much more on the 'To Do list' today, given that it's too wet to do anything in the garden ...ย  I'll make my shopping list for the farm shop tomorrow ...ย

    Hello all.
    I'm even later.

I've just been to the Remembrance Service at the village war memorial. Chatted to neighbours afterwards, which was nice. We haven't met many people here yet thanks to Covid.

@Dovefromabove. I hope @debs64 and anyone else with a cold is better soon. Memory like a sieve, is Topbird's cold better? Oh yes, LB's cough, hope that goes too.
