I'm sure I've already mentioned the excess of helicopters there's been here recently too.
Of course, considering Glasgow was flooded the other day, and lots of trains couldn't run either, especially from the south, because of the flooding, they'll probably think flying is an even better idea.
The irony of it all is unbelievable.  :|

Why does it need 30.000 people to attend COP26, I hope none of them flew here! Read the Hotel has one leccy charging point, and the rest of the motorcade is using diesel generators. Seems nothing has changed since the last climate change conference 25 years ago.

Some newspapers like to leave the 'bio' out of biodiesel. They're running on waste vegetable oil apparently. It still doesn't change the need for 240 brand new electric cars to be provided for the event, plus the generators and the lack of basic planning that lead to the need for generators.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I have fond (not) memories of Brussels going into gridlock years ago when Bill Clinton turned up for some NATO summit or other meetings and he needed to have his early morning jog - major and minor roads closed all round for miles.    Chaos for ours and then more when his cavalcade went by for the actual meetings.  Utter madness.

Doesn't happen for other presidents or PMs or royalty.

What's wrong with zoom?   They can sit in their pyjamas bottoms and impress the world with their eco credentials.  Do what everyone else does and make sure there's nothing embarrassing behind you.

Should be on the happy thread but I can't be arrrrsd to find it. zoom is great for people with hearing difficulties. You can see the person face on to lipread and you can turn up the volume and you can nose into their houses.

I rather suspect that interpreting Zoom calls with all those high ego politicians at Kop would be a nightmare.   Even when they're in a booth with earphones to hear and interpret goings on at the EU council/parliament/negotiations the interpreters do half and hour before being relieved by the next or they become exhausted.

Imagine having the brains to interpret all that stuff but no power to say what you think yourself or have any influence on decisions!  Soul destroying.
