Fairy, you don't define what is right or wrong. Resorting to semantics, when the name is in the title, is a FALLCY, a nonsensical false form or argument. You can agree to disagree.
I am merely explaining the differences between varieties and species names, because you don't seem to be aware of those differences, and the effect of that when trying to help someone.
If you want to ignore it - that's fine. I don't really care any more.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
'Inaccuracies' might be a kinder word than 'drivel' and allow us all not to get dragged back into animosity...
Jac19, here's a pic of a similar, if not same, persicaria from the Beth Chatto website. It doesn't have 6 petals, if you zoom in. Usually 5 tepals to be pedantic (and answer the above confusion!).
You got upset and then abused a lot of people who didn't deserve it, but when you apologised and tried again, those same people responded and entered into conversations with you. The atmosphere on the Forum has been so much better the last couple of days, surely you have felt it too?
Don't go down the road that will lead to you being banned from the Forum, as some others have been in the past.
You say that you want to learn more about plants and clearly do a lot of research, but personal experience is also of great value. It means that we often disagree about what suit a plant best because it isn't always simple, there are so many variables.
Sometimes I have found out why a plant died on me, sometimes I have wondered why one was perfectly happy here, when it seems most unsuited to the conditions it has. People having a different opinion is not abuse or persecution or trolling and the search for a correct plant ID is a great way to learn a lot about plants. I have been on this Forum for many years and am still amazed by the depth of knowledge shown in many discussions

Indeed, right or wrong is frequently a matter of objective fact. And you are wrong. There are many flowers without petals. I suggest you Google "sepals" and "tepals" and read a little instead of further embarrassing yourself. And Persicaria do not all have 6. Again, a simple Google will enlighten you.
Making arrogant, incorrect statements and then getting abusive with people who point out you are wrong is not going to make you popular, nor help improve your knowledge nor aid anyone else trying to use this forum.
I'd suggest if you are more interested in getting riled up you'd be better off heading over to the Daily Mail website.
> Mystery plant is Persicaria as mentioned by others.
Percicaria has 6 petals. And those petals are too thin.
The flower in this post clearly has 5 petals which are clearly all rounded. See the clip.
My blue dropmore has 5 rounded petal spikes that are "heavy" like that. I know that there is a pink version, but I have not seen the pink version.
Jac19 I really hate any upset on forums. You may have a plant called blue dropmore with 5 rounded petals./maybe there is a pink version as well.
However, may I just stick to the facts. I am very sorry but you are not correct. Persicaria does not have 6 petals. It has 5 petals.....see link below. The mystery plant is definitely Persicaria.

Reading through this will help you to understand the rules about the naming of plants … then you’ll be able to see where you’ve been getting confused
