Good morning Forkers. It's sunny but chilly. I may have to dig out some socks!
Freezer sorting for me till it warms up outside after discovering that the 6 kilos of small plums the neighbours gave us are actually red grapes but then Fabienne is a bit scatty. After that a bit more domestic pottering. Two lots of guests coming next week - a 2nd cousin I haven't seen for 50 years (family fallout from mum's behaviour) on Tuesday for a couple of nights and Belgian neighbours at the weekend. .
Weeding and bulb planting later on then dancing this evening.
Love your Neptune @Ben Cotto but agree the lighting at night is spooky. Great that you get to see your son @Pat E. Did he bring his cat?

Sunny, bright and cool here so far. Forecast is for a weekend overcast and with cloudy weather - still no sign of rain.
Woke at 7 this morning, but drowsy. Thought, I'll just lie here for a bit and then get up. Woke at 8.30 so obviously catching up on some well needed rest. Picking olives today. My BIL has a friend who keeps pigs and apparently, they love them (the pigs!!). All my olives have worms so are no good for preserving. I usually like to do about 10kg of green olives to make tapenade or just tossed in garlic and olive oil for nibbles. About 1 in 10 isn't affected but I'm blowed if I'm going to sort through them. They are the oval variety - Lucques and very meaty. Such a shame!
Saying for today: Quand le Saint-Gall arrive l'heure, la vache à l'étable demure. Coupe ton chou à la Saint-Gall. En hiver, c'est un vrai régal.
Thank you very much to the people who have sent me messages concerning these expressions. I'm glad you enjoy them.
Enjoy your day and go easy on the Sauvignon Blanc tonight!!
Yes, Obelixx, she is laying on the headrest of my chair 😁😁. Lovely to have her here again. Son cooked a large pot of potato and leek soup which we’ve already had a go at. 🤪
There’s more snow fall at Perisher today, more cold drizzle here.
@tui34 there was a cow bellowing a lot in next door's cow byre last night. Presumably in labour and not shouting at St Gall. I see he's the patron saint of birds so maybe he'll have words with Scruffy chook who is off colour at the mo. No idea why as she eats and roams and fossicks the same as the others and we don't use chemicals.
Possum won't go near a leek anything @Pat E but she's cooking us lemony pasta with salmon for dinner tonight. No wine @tui34 as we need sober feet for dancing later but I do like Sauvignon Blanc. And Pinot Gris. And Malbec........

Hi everyone, Honfleur, was suitably historic. Luckily little war damage unlike Le Harvre, the other side of the estuary. We are back aboard now and heading back inland towards Paris. Giverny tomorrow, hope it lives up to expectations. We have taken note about the temperature, we have seen it quite cold and misty first thing, but the days have ended warm and sunny.
Hope you remember to take lots of photos @Allotment Boy! Have a good time.
Having had another domestic morning I finally got out in the garden this pm for a couple of hours. Have pruned the wisteria along the annex so we can get in that door without being mugged and have pruned the other two to let more sunlight on the bed below. Lots of lovely cyclamen in their doing their thing but the acidanthera are slow to flower. I shall probably move them to the new "prairie" bed where they can pretend to be grasses.
All the pots in the potager watered and 2 roses grown from cuttings potted on along with some moss form a fuchsia pot. I need some so I can do an aerial cutting of my 35 year old ficus elastica cos he's just a bit too big now.
Scruffy is hiding under the nesting shelf in their shed but has had some grapes. She's sneaky cos I was looking for her for ages and then she suddenly snuck in there while I was in the polytunnel.

Almost good evening, people Up before 7dishwashing,and big load of washing done, went shopping, dogs out,it's was 17c, hardly a cloud, the Indian summer continues. I see 20c forecast for Monday.
Evening all. Not been here this week but it's nice to catch up with what everyone has been up to.
I've been hibernating all week, I'm in another big mood slump. Reckon some of Hostafan's cauli cheese would have been just the ticket, it's wonderful comfort food. Never understood why some people (husband among them) say cauliflower is tasteless, I love it!
We got the narcissus bulbs into the 'wild' area last weekend but all the crocus, fritillaries and allium sphaerocephalon I was meant to get on with during the week are still in their bags. Maybe this week...
Kicking my Birthday week off with Filet steak and a nice jammy red. Cheers to all having a good meal this evening.
Progress with MIL’s puppy training - he will sit, stay, come (most of the time), fetch and lie down for me now! The nemesis is ‘drop it’ 😬 will not drop his prized leaves/sticks/toy yet. I’m really enjoying it though.
