I'm also a mod on another site. What many (most?) people don't realise is that mods have absolutely no direct control over the T&C of sites or on how well/badly they are supported when there are bugs in the systems. We can delete posts or content which breaks the rules and, on some sites, warn people privately about their behaviour. That is about the limit of it. We have an e-mail address to contact for system problems but no way of forcing the site owners to act on that information.
Regarding moderation of this Forum, we aim to be as 'light touch' as possible.
We don't have the time to actively police the accuracy/inaccuracy of any content posted, nor are we here to get involved in the minutiae of the arguments that inevitably arise between members.
Those of you who have been using the Forum for a long time will be aware that we've had periods of more 'hands on' moderation, when we've implemented a 'no bickering' policy of closing or removing particular posts or threads. These have, mercifully, been brief and some kind of equilibrium has been established again.
In this particular instance we'll be contacting a few users individually in an attempt to resolve the situation.
I'm hoping we can avoid the need to start deleting posts/threads again and that we get the Forum back on the track as the friendly, productive place it usually is.
