@JoeX - you're forgetting something, and I'm not sure you've actually read everything that has gone on. Are you saying that I should just lie down and accept it when someone accuses me of abuse [and calls me names] when there is nothing to back that up, and because they can't accept that it isn't simply a different opinion they're voicing - it's something that is completely wrong and could affect what novice gardeners then do or buy? To the point that I left the forum briefly at the weekend because I have been abused - for years, physically, emotionally and mentally by someone, and it brought on flashbacks. Great. I really needed that.
When this person was challenged on some of the remarks they were making [factually incorrect remarks] those people who were challenging the poster were then accused of trolling and stalking, as well as a lot more. In the same way that a petulant child behaves when told they can't have sweets before their dinner - except with more swear words. That isn't fine in anyone's book as far as I'm concerned.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Nanny Beach - if you use the ignore button (as described by Costumedvole) you will not see any more of the person's posts. Can be useful if a particular forum member decides to start being very unpleasant towards you personally.
You can, however, still read everyone else's responses to the 'Ignored' poster and sometimes it's quite frustrating trying to work out what they must have said to illicit the responses! I'm too nosey to ignore people - I want to see what they're saying.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Topbird, thanks, best leave it alone then. If I start reading something I don't fancy I can stop reading I got some very nasty comments on another forum.
Obviously (I hope) I’m over stating the point to make it clear, but the personal elements add nothing and the people chiming in with more personal stuff do nothing but fan the flames. The first example avoids the whole kerfuffle.
Now we have a whole thread dedicated to just attacking that one person!
Whilst I agree that "fanning the flames" isn't always a good idea, could I just say that you appear not to be taking into account a basic fact of human nature? Not only can it be tempting to respond - especially when it is raining all day but if you are personally subjected to accusations of abuse, trolling et al, you tend to want to refute the allegations rather than just accept it without comment. We are, after all, talking about mental abuse (not sure whether that is the correct term ) as opposed to physical abuse. The former should be able to be dealt with more easily on a Forum such as this as well as Social media in general. This particular thread is not about attacking one person - unless I have completely misunderstood, it is querying how the Forum can be returned to it's original format and how it can be properly moderated to avoid this very issue rearing it's ugly head on a regular basis

In my view, the flaw is that we used to have active mods (when I first joined) but they have disappeared.
