So pleased that this appears to have been sorted, although I did highlight it to the mods several times, before any action was taken. This forum holds a very important place in my life, and I was getting fairly desperate. Most of the abusive posters we get, are far easier to ignore, because they don't tend to actually discuss gardening, but this one was giving really bad advice to beginners, and that bothered me.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I was the same as you @punkdoc. I made expensive mistakes [that I couldn't really afford to make] when I was a new gardener decades ago. I wasn't go to press 'ignore' and leave those folk high and dry, if I was in a position to offer some help, however small. @Biglad- you're very kind....I think!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

@Biglad!!! Can you imagine the sort of abuse we’d get? You werent a member here when someone (since banned) put it about that I was a Mod and responsible for all the evils of the world! 😱 At least @Daniel Haynes and his team get paid to do it … bless ‘em.
They’re a small team and a busy one and they can’t do everything at once …. I think that sadly nowadays sometimes trolls are best ‘given enough rope … etc’ so that they overstep the mark in a big way leaving now doubts etc. Can you imagine the furore someone could kick up by alleging some sort of discrimination by the Mods working for a large company such as Immediate Media … 🤯

Ah, I’ve edited and added a bit since you started posting… but really were grim times @Fairygirl … PMs being sent with the intent ‘to drive’ me ‘off the board’ …. one brave person copied such a PM into a post so people could see what was going on under cover.

If someone sent me an offensive PM, I would copy and post it immediately.
Oh so would I @ B3! But these folk were part of a little group, friends of someone who saw themself as their ‘leader’ … and they went along with it until one of them realised it was wrong …
Anyway, those days are gone … let’s move on 😊

@B3 I copied and posted a bit of an upsetting PM some years ago and got abuse from him on the forum and more unpleasant PMs. The person has since been banned from the forum. Funny thing was that he was liked and gave good advice about perennials but he could be horrible to people in PMs. I wasn't the only one. People wondered why he'd left, but they hadn't been his victims.

That was rife at the time too.

I've been a member of many forums over the years, including some pretty rough ones. Trolls can destroy a forum unless sorted out pretty quickly.
