That’s the hut @Topbird 👍 it’s a great walk isn’t it? Our friends lived in the one of the coast guards’ cottages. Fantastic spot. They used to take us out badger watching at night … armed with lots of shell-on peanuts.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
The small GC had just had a delivery. I bought 3 viticella clematis and a hydrangea Vanille Fraise, which was on special offer - birthday pressies to me from me for tomorrow!
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good afternoon everyone. Handy brother is STILL trying to get through to a real human being about his acceptance to go on the Galleri trial. He is not impressed with the 'shambolic organisation'. He's not as patient as me!
It has been glorious today and I've been out wrangling huge amounts of honeysuckle. Green bin is ready for emptying tomorrow.
Biglad, hope you made the most of the day and there is nothing as delicious as home grown tomatoes.
T'Bird, when Dad came back from Kuala Lumpur he had an extended leave and for a few months we lived in a gorgeous cottage in Tenterden, Kent. Unfortunately we children were not able to have an extended leave and so for the Summer term we attended Rye grammar school in Sussex. I don't remember very much about our stay there or anything about Rye but I did have a summer holiday job in a little cafe on the High Street in Tenterden and I remember my Grandma, who came down from the North East to stay with us, buying a sack of gooseberries and we had them in every possible disguise imaginable for weeks afterwards. Another memory from then, I just have to get a scent of original Fairy liquid (other washing up liquids available) and I'm taken right back there. When Dad's leave was finished we went to the other end of the UK as his next posting was to RAF Kinloss in Morayshire. Well done on making a start on removing the box. Hopefully the rain made the soil easier to work in.
Busy, more super purchases there. I love the viticella clemmies.
Good work done at your MIL Dove. Have a safe journey back home.

Those sound like happy memories LB - funny how smells can transport you through the years🙂. Being in Tenterden you would have been equidistant to both Sissinghurst and Gt Dixter. Did you ever get to either of them? (Not sure when Gt Dixter first opened to the public but I think Sissinghurst has been on the circuit for a while). It would be interesting to see how they've both developed over the years.
Talking of developments.... I think it's going to take a while to get used to not having the box hedge. It is / was only a dwarf parterre style hedge (about 15" high) but gave so much shape and structure to that corner - even in its blighted, caterpillar chewed state. I'll get it out and live with the space for a few weeks before deciding whether or not I need to replace it with an alternative (possibly yew). On the plus side I won't miss trimming it twice a year or spraying against blight🤔
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
T'Bird, they are happy memories but at that time in my life I hadn't even heard of those two spectacular gardens. They are on my bucket list. I'm signing out for tonight people. See you all in the morning.

@Ladybird4 I used to live in Smarden, Kent before moving to France. I loved it there and I knew Tenterden pretty well. My daughter went to piano lessons there.

I'm ok thank you @Songbird-1 Sorry been busy with OH hospital appointments yesterday and this morning he had to go to physio. This afternoon I made the most of the good weather and sorted out the shed, took everything out and gave it a sweep and cleaned the windows. Sorted all the bits and bobs and put everything back.
Sorry haven't read back, but Hope you're all well. Goodnight everyone, sleep well and sweet dreams.
Good morning all. Off to work in a bit. Feeling a bit more positive and looking forward to wedding now. Just got to find shoes though very tempted to go with an old pair of sandals I have, they look fine and are comfortable. I have rather ugly feet though. Should I risk a pedicure?
Not read back as lots of posts but hope all are well. Enjoy your Thursday
Good morning Debs and all to follow later. Debs, I'd stick with the comfortable sandals and if you want a pedicure just go for it. Get your nails painted to tone with your outfit.
Well the lovely weather didn't last - its raining! Off to see Bestie today so to be honest it doesn't really matter what the weather does. Gossip day!
