My David Austin bare roots munstead wood and lady Emma hamilton arrived today! I quickly heeled them into a tub of compost until Im feeling well enough to plant them (Chest infection ) but they were damp and in good condition.
Autumns reaching my garden now, came back from a few unplanned days away to find quite a few buds still but leaves turning and blooms slowing down. The few blackspotters I have look messy and others have a few spotty leaves now so I'll be busy in spring getting that back under control, but judging by how late in the year it is gardens not done too badly at all this year for it.
I’m a sucker for a romantic name and anything French usually fits the bill @Marlorena - except sometimes the translation kills it. Delbard have a new rose called ‘La Sauvagine Terre et Passion’ which kind of works in French. Except La Sauvagine means waterfowl. It’s also the name of a cheese. Hmm, a rose called ‘Waterfowl Land and Passion’ or ‘Cheese Land and Passion’ hardly sets the heart aflutter now does it?!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Ooh noticed 20% off harkness bare roots! No code needed. The latest GW mag has an article on 10 best roses for small gardens... suspect there might be some contention in this thread with suggestions
