My order arrived from deWilde today, 6 days from ordering. The roses and the clematis were very dry, no plastic, just wrapped in brown paper which was not water damaged so they didn’t hydrate them at all before sending out. Fortunately I was in for the delivery and plunged them straightaway into a bucket of water so they are fine. Just a heads up @Rojas, open immediately and have a bucket of water to hand!
Here are The Prince, a bit skinny and not as good as my original one from TCL but I expect they will get there in the end:
How are you getting on with Falstaff @owd potter and indeed how did your new rose bed fare? Haven’t heard from you for a while, hope all is well.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@Nollie thanks a lot for tips and I will do the same. I have checked the order status and it has arrived UK. Hopefully I will get it by tomorrow and that will be exactly 6 days from ordering like yours. I just can't wait to see the roses.
Is this a good time to move roses around in UK? Many Thanks in advance.
I placed an order today for just one "The Prince". I already have many roses and no space. It feels too much shipping for one rose. May be I should have ordered two. I called them to add another but it was already shipped. Nevermind. Countdown for six days starts now.
..the first bare roots arriving.. I think they look ok @Nollie ... you appear to have started a rush on this rose...
... torrential rain last night for several hours... I needed it as it's been very dry..
..I really shouldn't but I'm trying to find an excuse to order another rose, I want one with a nice French name - romantic.. I'm sure I'll come up with something..
Question: I need to move my Madame Alfred Carriere to another place and I know this operation is better be done when the rose is “sleeping”. How can I know when that happens? I mean, at which teperature the rose goes in sleeping mode? Thanks
.. I would move Mme A Carriere now if in my garden, but usually when you start to see the leaves drop or the growth slow down, so there are no new shoots..
