Thanks Omori. I will get that wrist brace and see if it helps. I might have RSI too.

For now I have mulched borders with compost. Hopefully it would make pulling out weeds easier by next year.

Thanks @marlorena, yes it's a reflection in the mirror behind it :) It's on the fireplace mantle and I was sitting on the sofa  :D Hopefully that solves the mystery.

You’re not slow Marlorena, I’m just weird I think…most people probably wouldn’t take a photo of a bouquet from a seated position 😜

Newbie I hope the brace helps, it’s a real pain, no pun intended!

I’ve always felt that a broad category for ‘Plants’ on a gardening forum was inadequate @Marlorena and would support a separate Roses one. I suppose the problem is, where would you stop? Personally I would split Plants into four categories and have the following green buttons:

    Trees and Shrubs
    Climbers
    Roses
Flowers - annual, perennial, bulbs etc.

I would keep all the other categories except ‘Problem Solving’, don’t see the need for that when any problem is bound to fit in one of the others.

The Prince is much more robust in Year 2 @Tack, I remember early in it’s first season the canes snapped and leaves were shredded in the slightest wind. I find the same with Diamond Eyes, but all my Weeks roses get bad blackspot later in the season, you should see my JC! They do very well in terms of heat tolerance and sustained bloom power, but it’s like they expend such a huge amount of energy doing so, then they run out of steam and blow with BS really fast. Still blooming through the BS though.

That's good to know @Nollie, thanks. JC is fine though :p you can see it behind EDI above. My other BS afflicted roses this year are Sandringham, Boniface, Royal William and Burgundy Ice. Less bad are Wollerton Old Hall, The Generous Gardener and Alexander. I think it has been a really bad year for fungal disease here, mildew is rearing its head again.
