    Height of sophistication @KT53 :D
When we were at school, too far to go home for lunch, and we certainly couldn't have afforded school lunches, my Mum gave us a flask. It alternated between spaghetti of some kind [often the short one rather than 'oops] and the delightful  sausages [chipolata style] and baked beans - tinned, and available in all good stores...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

75% salt, 20% sugar and the rest of very dubious origin. Yup, remember those.

Never have liked those processed sausages.

Found baked beans at 1€15 today.  Bargain!   Wouldn't want to eat cheap chicken like Skandi gets.  It means it's been intensively raised and probably bred to put on weight so fast the poor things often get leg fractures.   France now has rules/standards about not growing that kind.

Even before we adopted or ex-layers I'd been buying free range or organic chicken for years.  Even on special offer it's never less than 6€50 a kilo for a whole bird.  The pork I buy is locally reared in fields round here so I can see it having a happy life, as is the beef tho I'm not keen on beef myself.
