  • The morning heavy rain finally gave way to a bit of dry by 3. So I went out and applied the other nematodes, for ants & slugs. If the neighbours saw they will be even more convinced that I'm mad, as it looked like I was watering after heavy rain.  😜

Another reluctant shopper here, dropped in to M&S for socks etc. - very quiet. The multistorey car park in town is usually packed but this morning level after level was completely empty. It would normally be full of workers cars during the week so it felt really weird to see it so empty.
A friend told me that one of our favourite fungi hotspots was in full flush so I had a look and picked nearly a kilo of hedgehog mushrooms, now sauted and frozen. There were easily another 10 kilos I could have picked but musn't be greedy. Another visit next week should catch the next flush. Spotted several Death Cap mushrooms too but those don't get picked.💀
One unexpected sighting on the same foray was seeing 3 alpacas in a nearby paddock. I was trying spot some buzzards I could hear above me and moved out of the trees to see three curious furry faces watching me.

The cardiologist has given the go ahead for OH's hip replacement. Big relief but I also feel frustrated because he could have had it on 2nd July and been here with me in France now, pain free. No date for the op yet of course.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • That is fantastic news @Busy-Lizzie 🍾  … of course I understand your sense of frustration … but I suppose  ‘better safe than sorry’. I do hope he gets a date very soon 🤞

Lizzie, I assume you know about pH effects on Hydrangea colours.  The deep pink sounds good, though.

Very cold night here last night, but it’s a lovely sunny morning, so very happy with that.

    Hello again all.

our usual roo mother and junior are nibbling grass outside our bedroom window this morning, so I thought you might like some photos.

Sorry about all the blow fly traps on the fence!  Please note the White eared honey-eater on junior’s back.  It was there for quite some time on both of them. Must be finding something good to scavenge. 😳

Oops!  Sorry I should tell you that the name of the bird is misleading. It’s not a nectar eater. It’s an insect eater. Typical that the common name is wrong. 🙄

What amazing pictures, Pat E! I can’t imagine looking out of the window and seeing kangaroos, I get excited enough when the deer visit the garden. I wonder if the birds do enough scavenging to keep the Roos relatively tick and flea free.
Just woken after a pretty decent 8 hours sleep. Cool out, and there is a lot of mist between the trees.

Morning Ergates. I guess it’s the same experience except the native animals are different. 😁

We slept fairly well last night as well, except for one period when we both woke with cold noses. 🙄 a problem easily fixed by snuggling down under the doona. Hubby said it was minus 3 this morning on his machine, and I noticed a heavy frost on the ground. No wonder we felt cold. Its been lovely today though.
