Epson prints, copies and photos used to get them done at Boots. Found TESCO cheap for the photo paper, and local place £6 for the inks. When the grandkids come, they love looking through the albums asked their mum why don't they have photos
Never ever buy a Hewlett Packard printer. Ever. Constant battles with the thing to accept that I'm not going to use their over-priced ink cartridges and now it's refusing to print a black and white document because it's out of yellow.
wild edges Yes buy a Hewlett Packard printer just buy the right type of printer . I have a Hewlett Packard printer (LaserJet P2035) its brilliant. One toner cartridge does 2000 pages. Mines a black ink only LaserJet printer which suits me and I got it second hand for £10. The toner cartridge I bought from A M zon for £13 and I've had it for 10 years now. I used to manage and repair 56 HP printers at one time in my working life all laserjets and they were very reliable. We had one huge colour LaserJet and the cartridges were £200 each ( it took four) so you wont want one of those
Unfortunately like most people it sounds as if you were conned into buying one of these cheap colour inkjet jobs and have to pay a fortune for the cartridges, which is why they sell the printers cheap.
If you see any office equipment sales on the go and your happy for black printing only look our for a small cheap LaserJet printer which will save you a fortune as long as your not bothered with colour. They use toner (powder) cartridges rather than liquid ink and are very cheap to run,
All that said I'm using mine less and less as I keep copies of most of my important docs on my phone now like many people do. I have my car log book, insurance any travel docs and insurance and a number of other relevant documents. Its main purpose these days seems to be for printing out colouring pictures for the grandkids to colour in,

I agree with all Kili says about the benefits of a laser printer if you don't need colour. Another benefit I find is that my Brother laser printer is ready to use within a couple of seconds of being switched on. Inkjets normally have to go through a self clean process every time they are switched on.

The company ethics put me off more than the functionality, although I will admit that an inkjet was the wrong choice. We had an Oce wide format plotter at the office for a while and it was a brilliant printer. Sadly it had a problem with the yellow print head clogging which involved a £500 replacement part every time. We got through four replacement heads, all under warranty luckily, before they gave up and just gave us our money back. We then got an HP replacement and it was terrible. If they can't sell you a decent printer for £1500 then you can imagine how bad their sub-£100 stuff is. And the ink was way over £500/litre.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
When perfectly functioning printers are being dumped because folk just buy a new printer as it's cheaper than replacing ink. total madness
Completely agree. Even allowing for the cartridges supplied with printers often not having the same quantity as the replacement it's often still cheaper than buying inks. Incorporating features designed to prevent the use of non OEM cartridges should be banned.
I use the subscription service. I think I get 50 page monthly allowance - easily enough for my needs - and it costs £1.99 a month. Ink levels are automatically monitored and new cartridges are sent out when ink levels are low.
Grrrr,it's other grannies birthday today. Desided to send flowers from her local florist made sense. She lives in a posh place so expensive, then an extra £8 for delivery today, another £3 for the little card. Crafty really, the oned they said they could deliver tomorrow we're cheaper. Picked really bright in your face orange Lillys and gerberas. A couple of hours later,I get an e mail, they haven't got those flowers offering me an alternative which is pale pink roses and Lilly's.specialy didn't want roses,AND they can't deliver till tomorrow, there's no one in tomorrow. Have cancelled, transfered money to my daughter, who lives a lot nearer and is going to buy some
