It is very sad indeed @Pat E ... I can't bear to watch the news sometimes ... I listen to the radio instead ... the pictures on there are bad enough.Ā  But I'm very proud of my son for the help he's giving his neighbour ... D had no idea how to get help ... if his family do get to a place of safety it'll be down to my son caring enough to spend time helping and knowing enough about who to contact... (I sometimes wish he could look after himself a bit better, but that's another story šŸ¤£šŸ’—)

Someone on R4 this morning said there is another airport North of Kabul which would have been much better for the evacuation, but the US abandoned it without consultation.Ā  He was implying that we seem to have lost our far sighted diplomatic skills that should have persuaded the US to think again.Ā

    MorningĀ
Sending love and strength to @Dovefromabove 's fantastic Son and his friend.

    I've just called hospital.Ā

    He's being a nightmare .

    "Sedatives" just aren't working.

Methinks they need to change to something stronger
Another fun day looms ahead for me.

    Morning all, morning @tui34.
Here's hoping D's family can be saved Dove and that the consulate can reach them before the Taliban does. Well done to your son for getting involved.Ā  I wonder if there's more work he could do with refugees/veterans?
I wonder what else lives in that pile of rocks @Pat E!
Keep your strength up @Hostafan1!Ā  Remember your Dylan Thomas - sounds like OH is truly raging at the dying of the light.
Today's problem for me?Ā  Finding somewhere we can store all of the street market road closure/diversion signs. They are currently in the town council's shed but they want them out of there and say we can return them there after the Garden Market on the 12th.Ā

@Hostafan1, do you know whether the hospital has a palliative care team? If so they can nearly always find a combination of drugs to stop agitation.
How can you lie there and think of England

So sorry for you both, Hostafan. It’s a sad reflection when a hospital can’t cope better than you can. As Punkdoc says, hopefully someone on the medical team will have sufficient experience to know what might help. Any chance that he has an undiagnosed infection? These have been known to affect people’s behaviour badly, with a massive improvement once the antibiotics have kicked in. I used to see it when I was called in to deal with dental problems in patients with dementia.Ā
I’m with the give as good as you get approach, if he’s swearing and creating hell, then get yourself home for as much sleep as you can manage. Remember the person you know and love is the one who kept the inappropriate behaviour under control. More to be applauded than those who don’t have a bad thought in their heads ( not yet to meet one of those, though!)

My guess is that they have to go through a process of trying A before moving on to B etc. but I'm just guessing.

They took bloods when he was admittedĀ  to check for infections.Ā
I've not even had a Doctor speak to me since he was in the Emergency Dept.Ā
I'm hoping he'll move to the Dementia ward today. It was full yesterday

Didy, there’s usually some large Cunningham’s Skinks living inĀ there, but I assume they’re sleeping through winter temps.Ā

Hospice teams are so skilled at the complex End of Life stuff .... it's what they do ... hospitals are usually about saving life ... they have different skills.Ā  Maybe they need to consult with someone with the specialist skills that Hospices have developed over the years ...Ā

Ah ... just seen @punkdoc's post ... yes ... palliative care is very specialised.Ā Ā
