The range of hostas here is very poor - so far - so maybe I should start crossing my Gold Edger with some of my bluer hostas and bigger leaved ones and make my own? Not too many as I need to grow them in pots so far while waiting to make a bed in shade from the sun at its peak. Scorchio not good for hostas.

How is your hubby today, @Hostafan1 ? hopefully reasonably calm and not in pain. Have you ever thought of turning your hosta passion into a business? It seems you are very good at collecting different varieties and propogating them all.
Had a good day in the garden. I cut the long privet hedge on the inside. The only problem is that I can't quite reach all of the top, although the new path makes it much easier and safer to do so. The other side is on a different lower level so will be even more difficult. I think we shall soon have to either employ somebody to cut it or my preferred option would be to have it cut down and a fence installed. The hedge has got to be 40-50 years old and is dying off in places. I always hated golden privet anyway!
38 years is a long, long time to be married Obelixx, we're only coming up to our 25th in September. I have this theory that most people historically never enjoyed long marriages as they didn't live that long. Might account for the divorce rate going up since the end of WW11. I can remember my pension planning lecturers in the 1980's telling us that the average lifespan for a man retiring at 65 was only 7 years. Thankfully it's much longer now, about 79 I believe, for men and 84.5 for women.
Evening everyone. Lovely to have an hour or so pottering in garden after work today. Bit miffed the forecast is pants for the weekend but I’ll trade it for a warm spell on my week off, starting in 8 days time please (yes I am counting - 5 shifts to go).
Good evening all 😀thank you all for the anniversary wishes, we have had a lovely day, went to Felixstowe for sit down fish and chips in our favourite place which has gone all up market, it was delicious!! Had a lovely stroll along the sea front to walk out off. Love your gift @Hostafan1!! Your gonna have fun finding where your going to put all of those!! If I get any sun @AuntyRach, I'll send it your way!!
Hello all, Very stressful day.....I'm probably very naive in thinking that all my staff have the same motivation as me in wanting to 'wow' all our customers....and wanting everything to be perfect. However, frustrated at seeing the reality of this.
Also disappointed to see my poor flowers beaten down by so much rain.
Happy however to be alive and kicking. Happy anniversary @WonkyWomble. Hugs @Hostafan1 I'm worried about you. Take care of yourself and hubby. Big, big hugs.

I think you're aiming for too much perfection @Dordogne_Damsel, in the nicest possible way and possibly need to be 'in control' all the time? Life isn't like that and most of your staff are probably only working for the money. You're making it much too hard for yourself and need to be more relaxed about it all.
We were chatting to our new bride yesterday who's a top profile event organiser for Oxford Uni, used to organising conferences and events for 200 odd people, including Middle Eastern Princes etc. She was moaning about all the things that went wrong with her wedding plans, especially the last minute hitches and beating herself up for supposedly failing her own standards. I told her that things always went wrong at weddings, it was just the nature of things and after a few months she wouldn't care so much. Was I right or not?

So long as it's a lovely day for them, and their guests, nobody else will know what she'd originaly planned, / hoped for. Easy for me to say, but I think you're right and she's worrying about the minutiae perhaps and not focusing on the big stuff that WILL be as she's hoped?

He " gave up counting" when he passed 1,000 different varieties.
