Morning all😎 Apparently we're to finish cutting the hedge this morning. A huge chunk of the area left is the stretch that died and has been replanted so nothing needs doing there. Should only take an hour or two.

Then I'll do a bit more towards rigging up the dripline for the new bit hedge. I can get the feeder hose and connections sorted out but I might leave the final positioning of the actual dripline for tomorrow.

Could also do to spray the box which has blight yet again (perfect conditions for it this year). I need to give serious consideration to 'doing a Monty' and digging it all out.

@Dovefromabove and @Ladybird4 - yes 2.22am is another favourite for me - but not as frequent as 3.33am. It really, really gives me the shivers when I roll over and see that time - I think it's quite spooky. Once in a blue moon wouldn't worry me but time after time is just weird.

Safe journey Busy Lizzie. Hope the A1 / M1 isn't too bad on a Monday morning.

Chive - I hope Nell is feline 😉😁 better today.

Have a good day everyone (40 winks for you Rosie) - SYL👋

    Good day to all.

T'bird, you were busy this morning. Nice that you managed to cut the hedge, it sounds like huge job.

Chive, nice purple flowers. I don't know what it is but it's pretty.

I didn't have any obligation this morning so I took a longer rest. It's not hot like previous days but it's still too much. I'll go to cottage this afternoon. It's time to sow autumn and winter veggies, radishes, turnips and few others.
I didn't forget, letter arrived an hour ago. Twelve varieties of chillies, from mild to extremely hot.

  • LB I’m back from the vet with Alfie he’s had a trim around his bottom.  He had to be given something to relax him.  The vet said he’s a very sassy cat.  He’s been given some painkillers by injection as he’s not a good patient.  Chive I’ve Put Lily’s tv on after stripping the bed and doing a double wash to get everything smelling fresh.  I’ve changed the bed and Alfie’s gone for a lay down.  Lily I’ll have a cup of tea now.  Enjoy seeing your grandson.  Time for a second wash.

T'Bird, I have just come in from cutting the front and top of my front hedge and hoeing the path to get rid of gazillions of mares tail. Green bin is now full. The sky started to go very ominously dark so I finished off what I wanted to do and packed all the tools away. The hedge cutter battery is now on charge. I wish I could just plug myself in somewhere to charge up my batteries. I often wonder if there is something atmospheric that brings about the 03:33 wake up or whether it is my milkman. I find it spooky too.
Ante, I love your chili selection. My favourites are jalapeño and scotch bonnet.
Oh RosieBB, poor Alfie and the indignity. That is a problem with fluufy cats though. My next door neighbour had a visitor whilst I was working in the front garden and this visitor had a big, white, fluffy Samoyed with her. I'll bet little Sadie will love cuddling the dog.
    Time for a brew!

@bluebellsinthewild - I think I'd be a little sassy if a stranger started trimming round my bottom🥳🥳🥳  Poor old Alfie - hope he settles down soon - I'm sure he'll be more comfortable now.

I've served a couple of fluffy cats over the years and knots in their coats was a constant battle. Fortunately they all allowed me to comb and cut them out - but only for about 8 minutes at a time before I got the warning tap of the paw. Little and often was the only way.🙂

LB - well done on the hedge trimming etc. OH actually did all of ours today including clearing up so I've sprayed the drive and patios with weedkiller. They were green with zillions of weedlings after recent torrential rain washed all the weed seeds from the lane and fields into our garden. I usually rely on hoeing and pulling to keep on top of those areas but there's far too many this time.

Also been playing with hosepipes again and I've just come in to order a decent Stanley knife from Screwfix. The ones OH uses are all cheap rubbish from Poundland and the like and definitely not up to cutting through the pipe I'm using. I've broken 2 knives already. So I'll have a proper-job one of my own which can live in MY shed - he'd better not pinch it!

  • Topbird Alfie’s perked up already.  I just hope the injection holds for a while for his painkiller.  He is rather raw from the trim unfortunately.  The vet and nurse took him away to do the deed.   I made the vet aware it was going to be quite some endeavour.  Topbird lt will be much better with a quality Stanley knife.  I bought some quality loppers a month or so ago and they’re great.  You don’t need to be superwoman to use them.  They’re the anvil ones.

Quiet on here this afternoon. You must all be busy bees.
Had a lovely day with our Grandson. Lots of hugs and cuddles and playing with toys. The weather was quite nice for awhile so we had a walk to the duck pond.
Hope Alfie is feeling a bit better  @bluebellsinthewild
Sorry @Chivetalking I missed that Nell was feeling poorly too. Hope shes much better now.
The sky has gone very black, looks like another downpour is about to arrive.

Evening All, Been round to see mum today lots of chat and a few little jobs for me,
Thank you for identifying my plant @Busy-Lizzie It’s nice to know what it is. Hope the journey to Yorkshire has gone smoothly today,
LB Thank you for your suggestion they are very similar looking plants. Wouldn’t it be great to recharge your batteries so easily, a cup of tea certainly helps 🙂
Topbird Nel is feline fine I like that 😁 Sorry to hear the Box blighter is back, I must admit I gave up on them when it struck my little hedge,
Bluebells I’m sure Alfie feels much better for having his rear trimmed, though not so much at the time. Glad he has perked up a bit now,

Evening all. I'm just polishing up my brain cells for tonight's brainiac session. Bet you had a good gossip with your Mum Chive. Glad you had a lovely day today SGL. Maybe tonight you will get a decent sleep as I'll bet the little people wore you out
I haven't seen Biglad today so I do hope that he is OK and not too worn out with running up and down the field activity and the rounding up of Cyrils and Brians.
