Chive you’ll be glad to get your ring repaired. It’s good to get it sorted. I never did find my ring. Chive/Hazel Alfie had an upset tummy from his injections but has retired to the bedroom for a snooze. He’s not normally a lap cat but he’s been sitting on my knee. He’s much happier after his trim but that doesn’t mean he won’t put up a good fight next time. I’ve washed my hair and given myself a haircut. I’m just having a cup of tea. Mum popped round for a catch up this morning and it was good to see her. Hazel no it’s not good that the govt have left the ball in the publicscourt regarding mask wearing. There were instructions at the vets that a mask is to be worn.
Afternoon all - busy morning popping to various places in town and SM but sat down now with a cuppa.
Chive - sorry to hear about your ring. I inherited my mum's engagement ring and was terribly upset when I got home one day and noticed the large opal was missing from the centre of it. Suspect it ended up in the bottom of Sainsbury's frozen veg freezer as I'd been rummaging in there, and opals are very sensitive to temperature changes. When OH and I got engaged he had a nice sapphire put in and I now get to wear my mum's (and my!) engagement ring every day🙂
On the the lost items / good news front - yay! Topbird found her hairbrush - yay🥳🥳! The black hairbrush was lodged, out of sight, under the black passenger seat in the black seat runner - must have fallen out when I put the bag in the car.
But here's the spooky bit. I couldn't see the hairbrush without doing contortions and it wasn't rolling around to alert me to it's presence.
What made me look there? Answer - I dreamt it was there last night. Honest injun. Weird or what? Makes me go a little tingly thinking about it. Not the first time that's happened either....

That is spooky TBird . This morning my phone went haywire. Couldn’t ring out ,others couldn’t ring me ,messaging intermittent. Tried everything that I could think of ,nothing happened . I texted a friend who found me a website . I was very tired by then .Tried everything that was advised ,nothing .As advised ,restored factory settings 3 time and turned phone off ,nothing .Had to go with OH to podiatrist again . Before I went I restored factory settings again ,turned the phone off . When we came back I turned the phone back on and it was working . I can’t tell you how relieved I am .I need that phone when we are out and about incase OH becomes poorly .Sorry for the long post . I am so pleased that my friend found the website .
Afternoon everyone, Hazel I hope your experience in town this afternoon has been a better one, less busy than when you went previously, @bluebellsinthewild Bluebells I'm sorry you never found your ring I do recall you losing yours, there is always that hope that it could just reappear one day when you least expect it. Alfie sounds very comfortable getting cosy with you,
Topbird That is so Spooky!, I’m pleased you’ve been reunited with your hairbrush but how odd that it came to you in your dream. Losing the Opal from your mums engagement ring like that must have been deeply upsetting, but I think having another gem put in when you got engaged is a wonderful idea.
Rubee That sounds a most traumatic morning, thank goodness for the good advice from your friend it saved the day. We are so lost without a mobile phone now, it is essential in the event of an emergency. I’m pleased you have got yours sorted out.
Managed to cut the grass back & front and have a tidy round, time for tea now.
Chive I am happy to hear that you have got your ring in for repair. I am very attached to lots of my jewellery because most of it has a story and an emotional attachment. I have my Grandmother's engagement ring on the middle finger of my right hand and I cannot remove it becuse of my swollen (thanks Arthur!) finger joint. The ring is quite slack below the joint so not a problem but I really must go and get it removed soon amd repaired to fit a skinnier finger.
T'Bird
the brush has returned but oh my I had goosebumps when I read how you found it! I have premonitions too that give me the shivers, I will think that someone is going to either ring or text me and almost immediately they do. Hazel, I do hope that your trip into town wasn't too stressful for you. The picture you put in my head of you ducking and diving did make me smile though.
Glad you got your phone sorted Ruby. Mine does sneaky things behind my back - especially after an update. Its when it is communicating with my car and vice versa that I get another spooky sensation.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
You snuckered in there RosieBB. I'm glad that Alfie is feeling happier today.Pets really put us through it don't they? Wouldn't be without them though.

Hazel - we had wasps in the roof over our porch (which is a mini room open to the rest of the house). I was initially slightly freaked out when I realised they were there.
There's no access into that tiny bit of loft space without either breaking a hole in the porch ceiling or removing the roof tiles.
We did neither and left the wasps alone. We warned visitors they were there but we didn't bother them and they didn't bother us too much. At the end of summer they left the nest (as yours will) and we sealed up the access point. No more problems.
One potential problem (if the nest cannot be easily removed) is that chemicals can be pumped into the space to kill the wasps - but then there are hundreds of decomposing wasp and larvae left in the space. They can smell and attract flies. I preferred to live with the wasps for a few weeks and just kept reminding myself they're good garden pollinators....

Evening everyone. It turned out to be a lovely sunny day, but its absolutely pouring down now. At least I don't have to water the pots. Did some deadheading and weeding this afternoon and general tidy. Hope you don't have to wait too long for your ring to be repaired @Chivetalking can you claim on the insurance? Oh @Songbird-1 that's sad you lost your engagement ring. And @Topbird losing the Opal from your mums ring. Lovely idea to replace the stone with an 'engagement gem' Very spooky to dream where your brush was! 😱 Keep looking @bluebellsinthewild it may be somewhere in the house.
