    I don’t think “couples choice “ has worked !

I'm not keen on couples choice and would rather got rid of it
It depends a lot on personal choice, and personally I would rather they did away with it.

Really? You wouldn't have wanted to see Rose & Geo's wonderfully moving performance a couple of weeks ago?

  • Yes, of course Rose and Giovanni dance was amazing, but on the whole couples choice isn't one I like.

I can still remember how I felt after Faye & Giovanni's dance and Janette's last year with Harvey. Both made me feel all wobbly  :)  I'm far more attentive when it's a couple's choice.

Yes, there have been some brilliant ones - including Rose and Giovanni's this series. But in the past they had to state which genre and work within that (I think it was Contemporary, Street/Commercial and Jazz/Theatre - but there may have been others?) which I think worked better, and gave more variety.

Tilly's dance would have been covered by 'Theatre' from that list.  I suspect much of the impact was lost on those of us who didn't know the Musical or the song.

I've liked Tilly's dancing all along from the start, but I didn't like her skirt or the music the week before last and I didn't like her latest dance, but I thought she did it very well. It was the choreography and music, not her fault, that I didn't like.

I did agree with Tom leaving, I felt he should have gone earlier, I found him very bland,  except for the Paso.

Strictly needs to include ‘theatre’ dances because a good proportion of the contestants are looking for a way to extend their career following a few years as pop stars or similar … not a long term career for many of them. A good performance in Musicals week forms the basis of a Show Reel that can get them into auditions.

Strictly is seen as Career Development for many of the contestants.

Strictly is seen as Career Development for many of the contestants.

That is what I now see as one of the major failings of Strictly.  In the early days the vast majority had either no dance experience or very little.  I remember the fuss when it came out that one early contestant did have more of a dance background than had originally been stated.  Now total novices are competing against those who have spent most of their life in stage school, on stage etc.  Get it back to the original concept.
