Is it just me? The more I see and hear of Gregg Wise the more irritating I find him. 😖
I gave up with Strictly a few years ago after it had been "improved to death" and the professionals were more well known than the people selected, who had to have naff all to do for the three months before Christmas, or worked for the BBC and were included in an attempt to improve their profile.
But I agree about Greg Wise, like Chris Packham and others, they are in far too many programmes.
I've always believed that unless the presenter is well known and an acknowledged expert in the field, like Attenborough, if the name of a so called "celebrity" is felt necessary to be included in a programme's title, to get people to watch it, it can't be up to much, so I never bother.
The "resurrected" Kate Humble, is a classic example (who I thought we'd finally got rid of).
I'm sure a lot of people still like Strictly, I've no problems with that.
Well they're in for a treat, as "Strictly Come Dancing 2" is on the way on Tuesday of next week.
BBC1 10.35pm.
"I Like the Way You Move."
"1 of 8 Dating show in which five rookie dancers compete for the chance to perform with five professionals."
I won't be watching it, nor "The One Lenny Henry," on BBC4 at around the same time.
For anyone who actually does ballroom dancing as a hobby/sport, SCD is a must. The chance to see professionals showing others how to dance, to see expert choreographies and watch the "apprentices" grow and learn is just fascinating.
I don't care who the celebs are as long as they do their best, train hard and are prepared to learn and dance their way thru the competition.

I don't think that we can appreciate the hard work put in by the pro's and slebs to learn to dance from complete novice to something presentable in such a short time, speaking as someone with two left feet and no sense of rhythm there is no way that I could learn a routine in a month let alone a week. I know that the camera sometimes swings around the dancers to make the dance look more dynamic than it actually is when the dancers are actually standing still but the production and story behind the process of learning to dance make it for me a very interesting and entertaining show which in my opinion has improved every year since it started and long may it go on.
I saw a snippet Greg Wise training this week on take two and I hate to say but he looked quite good, I think that Judi is going to struggle to survive this week but anything can happen on the night.
It sounds as though Greg Wise had taken the judges comments on board. You cant just go on there to look good,or be funny. It would be nice to have the cameras following the feet a bit more, when the judges say " You just went a bit wrong there" I never see it!😊
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Quite. I've been muttering about camera angles and showing the feet and whole body for years.
This was the continual complaint on the BBC's own SCD message board.
It's an entertainment show first and they want the contestants to look as good as possible.
Also the producers believe that the vast majority of those who watch aren't interested in "judging" the actual steps themselves, as they haven't a clue, they want the "bigger picture."
Even when the judges make comments of the particular steps a contestant has included, they are often none the wiser.
I don't doubt that all the celebs work really hard. What annoys me every year is that very early on one or more of the judges have their own favourites and seem to ignore their errors whilst coming down hard on others.
