I was talking about holidays abroad being considered the norm.

We too haven't had a holiday since spring of 2019 ... the holiday we'd booked for June '20 was pushed forward to Sept '20 then June '21 and now September '21 ... but the important bit here is that our holiday is in the UK ... at least we don't have to worry about having to isolate when we get there or when we come home.   B)

They really ought to give telephone scammers a bit more training. An extremely short telephone conversation starts with the words: "Hello, My Dear......."
    In London. Keen but lazy.

I was also talking about holidays abroad, and the post to which I responded actually said "It seems that an annual holiday abroad is regarded by many as a minimum entitlement", not simply 'the norm'.

My neighbours were sulking the other day they "only" managed 3holidays away last year, because of lockdown. We've been away 2 days in the past 12 years

Then there was the one who phoned me mid afternoon and began with ‘Good morning, missus…’

  • Unlike poor Manuel, you can't actually give them a slap round the head tho ;)

People have different priorities and different financial situations.  There was a time when my wife and I both earned very good money and typically went abroad on holiday 3 times a year.  That's no longer practical for us but we don't begrudge those who can.
