It's educating girls and women that brings down the birth rate faster than anything else.
I don't think Boris is short of intellect, just short of experience in or care for the kind of lives people lead and too blasé and unconcerned about the damage he does when he opens his mouth and pontificates on subjects where his short attention span/low boredom threshold combine to prevent him grasping the details.

On yesterday s letter page in the paper, some one had written,as Boris Johnson's dog had just been castrated, couldn't they do the same to him. Which I did find amusing, but it takes 2 to tango (mostly)
The problem with castrating mature dogs is that it can take quite a long while to change an established behaviour .......... it's probably true of other mammals too ........

Everyone seems to have forgotten his wife, I think every women is entitled to have two children, after that it could be called a bit irresponsible in the present climate. Should he have denied her motherhood because he already has children.

There are plenty of people who choose not to have children for one reason or another ... sometimes despite wanting them ... I know someone who chose not to have children h because her husband already had two and as a responsible father he knew they were all he could support properly. She loved the man so she chose not to satisfy her own maternal urges. That's being responsible.

Does the world ever not use what science 'discovers'? I saw a program a few months back on targetted killing - using drones in the battlefield, and yesterday they were talking on the radio about having global agreement on how such technology can be used. But, who stops science? Once the genie is out of the bottle, how do you get it back in? Someone will use the technology to assassinate, or destroy - so all states will develop the technology, if only to know how to defend against it. Has the atomic threat gone now - as it was too destructive, to be replaced with a mechanism that is surgical in effect and keeps real estate in tact?
Similarly, the Chinese used human 'germ line' editing. That means all govs in the world who have the money are also doing the same (cynical?). You can't be left behind. Now CRISPR is out there, how do you stop it?
And we haven't even begun to see the effects of AI and how the world order will have to change to accommodate it.
The problem is that it could be the eve of glorious times, but man (Shaun) always turns each discovery and weaponises it.
But I bet every parent that ever lived thought/thinks the future world is a scary place.
