I'd be willing to go with Yvette Cooper, Mhairi Black or Caroline Lucas. They all at least appear to think for themselves and to stand for something tangible.

I kinda went off Caroline Lucas and the Greens when she said she wanted Universal Child benefit to go up.
Surely population growth is one of the biggest problems facing the planet?

It's not right for children already born to suffer deprivation to save the planet.
Population growth should be stopped at source so to speak.

Exactly, but encouraging yet more isn't great. All parties should agree to phase out universal child benefit for new babies from 10 months from now.

I'm not sure I agree completely with any of them. I can live with that if I largely agree with them and if I believe they are basically honest and thoughtful. I doubt there's anyone with whom I am entirely in agreement on every subject.

The UK birth rate is in decline though (no thanks to Boris) and immigration will no doubt be down thanks to Brexit and Covid so I suspect the UK population will start to decline soon. Increasing benefits and things are fine if you get the taxes from the right places. Without getting into the weedkiller debate again it makes you wonder that if Monsanto et al had paid their $15billion in taxes, rather than to make a bunch of lawyers even richer, could that money have been used to improve education standards which would mean more people read the instructions on their products and don't get cancer in the first place? Or alternatively the US could use the money towards universal health care like every other sensible country and then people don't need to sue for medical bills. Or Bezos pays his staff better and doesn't get to go to space on a jolly.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

And maybe India could divert some of their Space budget to vaccinate all new born babies against preventable diseases and to make sure everyone gets an education.

The more education, the fewer children.
Unfortunately, from the government's point of view, the more education, the more expectations.

There's a baby born every 2 seconds in India. Investment in education can't come soon enough. Try to imagine a world where 1.3bn Indians all try to enjoy the same lifestyle standards as Europe or the US though :/
