I rarely look at this thread nowadays, but I occasionally read the most recent posts.
I also agree with @NorthernJoe, and @Lyn. Re Saville, there were nurses who reported him, and their concerns were dismissed. Rock and hard place for them.
No society will ever be perfect, and we often just replace one set of vile behaviour with another, equally hideous scenario. Two wrongs don't make a right though, and those in charge certainly have to make a more concerted effort in dealing with anything immoral that happens in our institutions, no matter how difficult that is. Resources are vital to get the necessary people/training in place. It's a dripping roast though, and there will never be enough. It's important to remember that, and if we consider ourselves to be a responsible society, we should all be vigilant.

I didn't suggest that it hadn't gone on for ages, but This lot are in power NOW, wasting public money by the £billion NOW and covering up their "jobs for the boys" activity NOW so it's perfectly valid to criticise Bojo and his chums for what they're doing NOW, not bring up stuff from decades back.
If this upsets the blinkered , dyed in the wool tories who constantly wish to deflect from the utter ineptitude of Bojo and his chums, then that's their problem, not mine.

"So if you want to blame the current lot for systematic, institutional child abuse in the past I think it's a bit simplistic."

When did I blame this lot for child abuse? You're talking rubbish if you're suggesting I did.
I blame this lot for incompetence and bad management ( which were also covered in the Lambeth report )
I give up. If we can't have a broader discussion, without putting words into the mouths of others, it's pointless.

At least that's one point we can agree on.

I'm not buying any more potted osteos. Yet another one strangled by a teabag has had to be composted. Same with marguerites😠
They're making the bags much smaller now so it's almost impossible to spot them before you buy and if you do, it's too damaging to try and remove them.

Hope it's the cheapo stuff. It peels off nails, so maybe it'll peel off the floor too. Or someone'll be getting no pocket money for a good long while!

An amusing, if slightly sobering all too familiar article from The Independant - via MSN - about that garden forum staple... Lawns

Jenny,no it didn't peel off,I used 2 different types of nail varnish remover, started off with the non solvent stuff. Didn't touch it. Lucky he had some brake cleaner. What made me doubly angry was I suggested she apologized to grandad, she refused saying it wasn't her!

Oh dear, who did she think it was, the tooth fairy? I would be livid. I'm glad you got it off though.
