My partner bought be courier bag in leather and canvas strap. It looks big enough but you can really struggle to get a file in and a 14" slim laptop. Plus the instructions with it on the label said don't get it wet. Noway is it waterproof or even resistant. That means no computer or phone or paperwork and you can't fit your Lunchbox in too.
On the other side of the coin a woman can carry a decent sized handbag without garnering ridicule from building sites, workplaces, mates and male family members. In it those cavernous bags there can carry computer of any laptop size, hard drives, paperwork, files, work books, diaries/planners/Filofax, pencil cases, large purses, makeup if needed, tissues, medication, lunch, drinks bottle, book for the journey with very easy access and assorted range of other things. If they choose to the style police don't have an issue. Or rather there's no ridicule.
For work I use a dry bag style rucksack because I'm commuting part way on a Brompton. It's 30 litres so big enough. When I cycled all the way when I lived nearer I used a 20litre pannier on my road bike. Practical but with the cover of utilitarianism.
As to trouser size, I've been the same size for 27+ years when I went from 32" to 34". Actually, I clarify that. I'm still 32" waist but have to get 34" waist to fit in other places. I've got strong legs capable of leg pressing about 550lb IIRC. I can't remember exactly but it's all the weights in the stack plus able to do at least 15 to 30 repetitions at full weight stack. Thighs and glutes need the bigger size, not to mention leg length.
You can buy a protective spray for leather!! I always use it for any new bag or shoes.
I don't know many women who can fit a laptop and a file in their bag tho Possum can cos I made her 2 with extra pockets for normal stuff. I have no use for handbags so always have a shoulder bag. I've taken to making those too and there are all sorts of patterns to download or ideas to adapt on the 'net. I've recently discovered one for a bag organiser that can be transferred from one bag to another.

"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
There was an episode of Steptoe and Son where Harold , for some reason I can't remember, dressed in 60s male chic including manbag. Can't remember the plot but the vision has stayed with me. - manbag Harold - Harold manbag ....
Didn't take long today but I got my grump on very early.
British bullcarp corporation reported that rich, entitled man tells everyone they should spend more on food. Reason? Small, family farms are struggling and we should eat organic foods produced the old ways, or something like that.
In case you're wondering the BBC have given too much airtime and importance to Prince Charlie again. Can't they simply shut him out and ignore the ignorant cnut?
2.5 million people survive through the food bank network in 2020/21 period. Compare with 38500 small farms of 20 hectares or less in 2015. Either tell foodbanks to supply the more expensive food and pay for it charlie boy or STFU!
Anyone else get a little annoyed when rich people without an interest or understanding or both in the truth of how people have to live tell us we should be spending more when many are only just surviving with handouts. Why do people give airtime to such people? If Charlie boy was just some Cholmondley from the big house in the Chilterns village, would the BBC be giving him this loud voice? It makes me want a republic as soon as the queen packs in get royal duties. Rather that than have Charlie boy tell us how to live.
We went to a funeral where the only vaguely odd thing on the notice was that it was going to be a 'natural burial' or words to that effect and, as the place was about 15 miles from the church the service was being held at, a postcode was provided for satnav.
The service went normally and everybody set off for the burial. On arrival we discovered that 'natural burial' meant a huge field with 2 foot high grass with plots spaced throughout it. That would have been OK had it not been raining almost constantly for a week before, was still raining, and the only access was along an unsurfaced track. Cars slid and slithered and many just pulled off at the side of the track. Once there the only way to the graveside was by walking through the high, soaking wet grass.
We noticed that all the family members had wellies, but not anybody else so it wasn't a case that it should have been obvious!
I understand this was a hugely traumatic time for the family as the son was only in his early 30's when he died, but some sort of warning would have been appreciated. In many ways the worst part was that a great many people didn't attend the wake because they were covered in mud and soaking wet.
It sounds as if the burial site wasn't particularly well-organised. I went to a natural burial once and the place had a reasonably OK gravelled track with room for parking either side, and everyone was told to bring wellies, macs and brollies.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

It's always interesting to look in the food bank donation bin in Waitrose. I once saw that someone had put in a bottle of extra virgin olive oil. It's heart warming that people don't just chuck in tins of economy baked beans or bags of pasta.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Dublin Bay rose has a wonderful smell, I seem to remember. But it can only be a memory as the flower buds are about 20 ft up in the air. A great rose to plant if you live on the second or third floor of a block of flats😒 I manage to bend a few stems over the pergola bench without snapping them from time to time but they're still so high you'd need a ladder to get a sniff. If you leave a stem for a couple of weeks, it's 6ft long and too late to bend.

I agree about the poor organisation. The only people who had anywhere decent to park were the immediate family. This was pre-covid and, as might be expected when a younger person dies, there were many people in attendance.

Most of their supply isn't from customer donation baskets in supermarkets you know, so that will be but a drop in the ocean. Most well be short dated or even out of date stuff that's been over ordered by the supermarkets. Although I know people who have used them I've never been to one so my assumptions are just that.
