To be a bit more precise, the clue should be ‘Hex, we hear’ (11)

I e-mailed the CEO of Dobbies with the photo of the roses, asking if he thought it showed acceptable plant management.  He said he will get it addressed as a matter or urgency.  Be interesting to see how much improvement there is, and how long it lasts.

Robots are programmed to say that kind of thing. It makes us feel wanted, important, safe, valued, etc. etc.. But basically it means xxxx off you green ink using xxxxxx.

I tried that next door thing. It's really depressing and slightly frightening. I really don't want to know about local petty crime. I can do nothing about it but worry. I thought it was supposed to be a support network but it seems to be a place where people report crimes because the police aren't interested.

I don't rate 'Nextdoor' either.  I can't remember the name of the system it replaced but that was far superior.  This is an American product which they have tried to shoehorn into the UK marketplace.

What is it supposed to do?   Round here we chat to our neighbours and farmer Luc chats to the entire neighbourhood so always knows what's going on.

In London, you only speak to a stranger if there is at least 3 inches of snow on the ground or the bus is over an hour late. Preferably both.

I have lived in London @B3, just off Baker Street, in Lewisham and Blackheath and then Harrow which is almost London.  People weren't so insular and wary then tho.

I use Nextdoor to get recommendations for tradesmen and that sort of thing and it's very useful for that ... but I rarely see or join in chatty stuff.  If you set your notifications carefully you don't get bothered by waffly detritus.
