    Morning all,

We've actually had some rain :D There's 1-2cms worth in the various receptacles I've got dotted about the back garden. I've tipped them all into the water butt (I know that's not how it's supposed to work ;)) so the 'blueberry reserve' is starting to build up :)

More poor weather in London? The offer still stands (to move Wimbledon to the east Lancashire desert) if Andy Murray doesn't mind dodging the latest sloppy feline deposit whilst he's putting the tennis-lovers through the ringer.

Think the final tomato plant cull will happen this morning. Far better to have half a dozen big plants not producing fruit than 15 unproductive specimens :(

    Good morning all.

Well done Andy and well done too to Jack Draper for winning a set from Djokovic.

The last football match I watched all through was in 1966. If England win tonight I may end up watching another one.

I'm off to the GC, maybe 2 GCs, after breakfast. Haven't been to an English GC for a year, thanks to Covid. Excited.

    Grey and damp outside.

Hi all, lovely trip to garden centre with daughter yesterday, lots of bargain bedding plants at £1  for 6 or 50p each , got a tray of 15 snapdragons for £2, all in flower with lots of buds, well 2 trays obviously, and a tray of 6 dahlias in bud for £1.
Off to Aberystwyth for a day today, I am longing to see the sea.

Sorry to hear your back aches this morning, probably all the clearing up you did after travelling home. Hope it eases soon @Songbird-1
That's a gorgeous rose Hazel, such a delicate shade of yellow.  Love the ruffles of petals.
Have fun at the garden centre @Busy-Lizzie I wonder what jumps in your trolley 😉
You got some great bargains @debs64 glad you had a lovely day with your daughter. Enjoy today too, hope the weather stays dry for you.

Hello all. I think I timed my gardening well - finished in time for elevenses and Wimbledon. I have been tugging up mare's tail (curses and profane words!) and the green bin is looking healthy. The sun has arrived (sorry Busy) and its toasty now. Yes, Busy, I was immensely impressed with Jack Draper and when he was interviewed this morning on the Beeb he seems a very grounded young man. We will be seeing a lot more of him in the future I think. Its no mean feat taking a set off the best player in the world on your first meeting. Enjoy your trips to the GCs and try not to buy TOO much. Do as I say and not what I do
Hazel, sorry to hear that you have a painful back - excellent excuse to sit a while and enjoy the tennis. That rose is absolutely magnificent - just gorgeous.
Debs, what wonderful bargains you got. Bedding plants bring such cheery colours to the garden. Did your daughter get any? Enjoy your trip to Aberystwyth. Will you go for a paddle?

Sorry to report that my wildflower lawn is no more :( A couple of months was all that the household could handle. I've managed to collect 3 horsefly bites whilst doing it as, apparently, insects think I'm a tasty dish ;)

  • Hazel lovely rose.  As Lily says lovely ruffles and a delicate shade.  Debs you have some bargains there and good to spend a lovely day with your daughter.   LB I’m watching the Evans v Lopez match.  I missed the last of the Andy match with Basil yesterday.  Hazel hope the back ache goes soon after your hard work in the garden.  Busy yes I thought Jack Draper did very well in getting the first set.  Chive I hope young Chive is doing well after the jab.  Time for a cuppa.
