@Biglad, my Dad used to grow them under his tomato plants to distract pests from them. They seemed to keep the whiefly away. Alpine compost is extremely gritty so not a mystery for you any more .  I use it for my Sempervivums. I loved Adam Frost's portable drinks table though I don't think placing a hot mug next to the semps would be a good idea. I'd definitely stick with the beer! I've got an old bucket too! Could also be a project for me!
Thanks Debs. Sweet pea scent is delicious and so reminiscent of my parent's various gardens as we moved with Dad's postings. Just keep picking them Debs and you'll get more and more coming. I remember my sweet peas of the other year. I picked loads and then discovered that the flowers were full of pollen beetles which appeared all over my furniture. I've not seen any of those yet this year but maybe the rain has deterred them.

Afternoon everyone. I popped out this morning to H*m€b@$€  it's Poppet1 birthday soon and she wanted some gardening gloves. 😁 I managed to get a child's pair. I also got a hardy Fushia.....Display.... that I'd been hoping to get this year. And as S@*#$bu*y$  was just by the bus stop I popped in to get a couple of other things on her wish list.....chocolate buttons and jelly babies 😉  Think im almost done now with the other pressies ive managed to get from the big river.
Have been weeding the garden today and also planted the new Fushia,  in the beautiful sunshine, was just having s breather with a cup of tea and the sky has clouded over and it's spit spotting. So everything is away and I'm now indoors.

Gorgeous flowers @Ladybird4 Love sweet peas @debs64 mine are romping away, lots of buds but only one in flower at the moment.  It's pink and white @Chivetalking really pretty, hope there's lots more like this one.
More footie on tonight @Biglad ⚽️⚽️
@Songbird-1 if you're peeking in hope all is going well . Safe journey home .

@Ladybird4, I plant French Marigolds with my tomatoes too. Even if they don't keep the whitefly away they look pretty.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Thanks Ruby . I've retrieved all the dry cloth things from the whirligig after doing a lot of weeding and cutting back. It is very oppressive and it could rain again. I also emptied the first bokashi bin as it has finished its work so the contents went into the compost bin. Smell could have melted plastic! I noticed that my large Canterbury Bells have become infested with black fly - better get some marigolds moved there - so I scraped some of the little beggars off and fed them to my sundews!
I felt very tired yesterday Ruby, I think it was the horrid weather. I was glad when the sun came out this afternoon and I could get outside.

Evening All, spent the afternoon sitting in the garden with mum it has been so warm,
LB Lovely photos, the Clematis Belle of Woking is beautiful. Had to smile at your description of disturbing Cocky & his Mrs from the undergrowth, it would have made me jump out of my skin,
Bluebells nice to see your rellies, I imagine an equally warm welcome from Alfie on your return home,
SGL Your sweet pea sounds a lovely colour, you had a successful shopping trip this morning I think poppet 1 has some super gift ideas 😊
Rubee Sorry to hear you’re feeling tired try and take it easy,

    Evening all,

Game 37 of 51 done and, unfortunately, Wales are out. Found a fresh deposit in my front garden earlier, which pretty much sums up the day :( At least it wasn't in my two new 'caged' areas and the Shauns only visited the other side of the road this morning.

    Swings and roundabouts, folks ;)

  • Lovely flowers LB especially your clematis.  Chive it sounds like you’ve had a lovely catch up with mum.  I’ve just woken up, needed the rest as I was having breakfast at 2am.  Biglad at least the sheep were over the road this time. Time for a cuppa.

That is a cute picture Biglad. Thank you RosieBB. It sounds as though your sleep patterns are as crazy as mine at the moment. I have no clue what it is though I do know that yesterday it was the rain.
p.s. Biglad, I meant to say I saw a bit of the Wales match. I though that the second Danish goal was a cracker. Wales seemed to be outplayed at every move.

Chive, I'm glad that you managed to see your Mum today and that it was warm enough for you to sit out. That sunshine was most welcome.
