Preferable to the "fillers" used nowadays :D

Surprised at people suggesting that the OP has to explain what ASMR is in order to get them interested in the thread and/or watching the video. Naturally curious people will have searched the ASMR and found out what it was, if they didn't (unusually) already know. Spoonfed or what.
I clicked out of curiosity and the music put me off. Had no idea it was just an intro!
Someone else mentioned jet washing patio as a potential filiming idea - this is already "a thing" with loads of videos. Here is one such example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hmLLJ6FfXk

I like watching frogs. Just sitting there, breathing and looking around. There's something that fascinates me about them (and my cat, who will hunker down and watch with me).

There is something extremely satisfying about watching a patio come "back to life" @delski :)

I'd never heard of ASMR, but clicked on the thread for clarification, where I found it.
Didn't choose to watch the video, very rarely watch any but historically significant ones. It doesn't sound like my cup of tea, the other relaxation things have never appealed and staying awake is generally more of a struggle than sleeping!
My speakers are always muted, unless I am playing music, so I can hear what is going on in the house and garden with dogs, cats and birds and I find gratuitous electronic noises annoying.

I assumed ASMR was a gardening term I hadn’t come across before. I’m sure I’m not alone in not knowing what it stood for, ( and I was a health professional working with patients with autism, phobias, dementia and similar conditions )
I suppose it depends on what the OP was hoping to achieve. A simplified explanation might have tempted more forum members to open the thread, and give feedback to the OP. I don’t often open threads unless they sound of interest to me, eg I don’t grow fruit and veg, so don’t bother with those topics.

Exactly, @Ergates. I was a little taken back to be told it was ‘unusual’ for me not to have heard of ASMR as I like to think my knowledge is reasonably broad.  So I asked in Italian class this morning, and a more erudite bunch you would struggle to meet. Among others there is a retired High Court Judge and a Cambridge University biology professor. None of them knew the term either.

It was my lack of comprehension of the term that resulted in me flicking past the thread originally and then I only opened it when it had racked up a few responses.

Not everyone, "naturally curious" or not, has the time to look up each and every acronym ( particularly given the prolific usage these days ). It would surely have been so much simpler if the OP had taken the time to explain in the first post. Hehas now explained it so all is well :)

"If they didn't (unusually) already know. Spoonfed or what "  ??  Judging by some of the responses. not all of us did know and I think it a rather arrogant statement to assume otherwise.   Asking for clarification can hardly be described as Spoon fed - curious perhaps ?

I personally think that if we take the time to read a thread and take time to trash something, it's worth taking time to look up new terms. Of course not all of us read every thread or want to investigate every new idea, but in exploring, Google is our friend.

ASMR is quite a new field of study. The term was coined in 2010 and seems to have exploded on the internet in the last three years. As with a lot of internet-led memes, regular people would not have encountered it much if they didn't spend far too much time on Youtube etc., Ticktock :D  A 14 year old grand-daughter is probably more like to know all about ASMR than a high court judge. Videos appear in my Youtube 'suggested list', I guess based on some odd algorithm. That's the only reason I heard about ASMR in the past few years. I do like looking things up and am very curious about new ideas. I do personally have quite a lot of synesthesia and quite strong trypophobia, which may be related (I recently discover). The picture at the head of this article brings on a sense of revulsion in me.

I find it's really not worth getting anxious about all the new terms (or bands, novels, films, apps) we've never heard of, or seen any sign of but that millions of people get very excited about. That way madness lies. The internet houses these niches that would have been tiny and unconnected before Youtube etc, but now can be "hidden" and wildly popular at the same time. It's all very odd, but quite exciting, if it's your niche. It's amazing to find so much info and so many afficionados out there just for gardening for mason bees or dyeing wool with dahlia petals or fixing Bosch washing machine heating elements. Now people can find each other, and share passions and experiences, niche is no longer so niche.

Apologies for any offence caused by my comment, didn't realise how quickly it would take me to get obelixxy. "Killed that plant? Well you're an idiot and now you'll know for next time. Read the packet properly, you imbecile" etc etc.
