Afternoon all, Popped to Aswooods this morning for some more compost and some FBB.  While I was there a couple of grasses and pelargoniums jumped in the basket.  I spent the rest of the morning planting some containers.  Secondborn popped round to see her Dad and we spent a couple of hours in the garden relaxing with a cuppa in the sunshine.  It's a beautiful day here.

Afternoon everyone, a lovely day to be outdoors,
Hazel You’ve done well to clear the cold frames of all the plants, I hope OH has completed his to-do list there’s always another job waiting in the wings isn’t there! I tend to create more jobs by accident,
Busy-Lizzie Happy French Mothers Day, nice to have a good chat with your family. I hope daughter 1 and her family have a lovely time camping this week. We are not campers tried it once in the new Forest but just not cut out for that, always looks like so much fun though.
Hope you are all enjoying your day.

Thank you everyone. Weather has been glorious, but I spent some time painting my bedroom. The ceiling is nearly finished, it's needed 2 coats. Two walls are done, just started the well behind the bed. Didn't think I could move the bed but it was OK. It's solid teak, bought in the 70s.

Then I mowed the fiddly bits in the garden with the battery mower.

Sounds as though you all had good weather too.

Hello everyone. Another busy day today - visits and gardening.
Busy-Lizzie - bonne fête des mères. It must have been lovely having all the family chats today. Be careful with all that furniture moving. It sounds as though the painting is coming on apace.
SGL I am glad that you have had another lovely poppet day. Those knautia are not mine SGL. Mine are still very young. These are mine - dead headed as they were starting to go over and they are in a glass with a buddleja cutting (that may or may not take!) The other picture is of the wasp nest from last year. I've put a stamp by it to give it scale. It is very fragile and I fear that the next time I pick it up it will just disintegrate.

Did you fire up the barbie today Biglad? I am still waiting to hear from handy brother about the street party. I bet they have had a great time as the weather was perfect.
Chive, I'm with you. Camping is not for me - too fond of my creature comforts. Mind you I do believe that camping (or glamping) is very up market these days.
Hazel and Ruby, another good gardening days for you too.  Ruby. There is nothing quite like eating your own home produce. Delicious!
Hope that I haven't missed anyone out. Ooh apart from congratulating Yvie for saving the plants that leapt into her basket!

  • Chive a lovely day to be outdoors, could reach 23 tomorrow,  hazel well done sorting the cold frame.  You can both put your feet up now.  Busy it’s good you enjoyed french Mother’s Day enjoying chatting to family.  Lily a lovely day with poppet so good to catch up.  Chive campings not for me either, toyed with the idea but you need some comforts.  LB the wasp nest is very delicate and tiny.  Have a good evening.

    Evening All,
LB That little wasp nest is so sweet it looks very fragile, you’ve done well to keep it this long. Glamping does sound more appealing, as long as it doesn’t involve a welly walk to the toilets,
Yvie Glad you treated yourself this morning at the GC, sounds like a nice afternoon with 2nd born visiting, hope Gabriel is feeling better now,
Rubee It will be nice to have homegrown veg to look forward to, hope you are both getting some rest,
Bluebells Phew 23! I’ll have to dig out my shorts 😀
Hope you have a good evening.

    Evening all,

Quite a bit of potting on done today - stuff just keeps growing and getting too big for the pots they're in!

Then the BBQ did indeed get christened @Ladybird4 ;) Quite embarrassingly I've got to the ripe old age of 27 without ever having owned or used one :o With that in mind I was quite pleased to achieve 3 very basic goals - get it going, avoid burning anything to the ground and have a full complement of family members after they'd eaten the food :D

Way to go Biglad. I hope you assumed the recognised stance whilst cooking on said BBQ. It doesn't work unless you have a beer in one hand!
Hazel, those are the first flowers from my knautia, there are dozens more buds developing. Keep deadheading them and they produce more and more flowers.
Chive, definitely the welly walk to the toilet would be the biggest no no for me!
Believe it or not I was about to sign out earlier then handy brother rang to say that the street party had been a roaring success with lots of folk turning out from the nearby houses.
RosieBB, my max/min thermometer in the GH read 35°C Lily was in seventh heaven!
Definitely signing out now. What a super day its been. Fingers crossed for another similar day tomorrow.
