I've a friend who lived in central London.. On the dot of 8 the builder/carpenter/ electricians let rip. When her house was being renovated they'd literally stand with the tools in their hands until the dot of 8 and start.
Are you really trying to claim that a 3 set women's match draws the same crowd, or TV audience, of a 5 set men's match? Many women's matches can't even be classed as a reasonable competition. How many men's matches are over in under an hour. If the women want equal pay they should play 5 set matches at the major tournaments.
@Nanny Beach can you get new local friends on gum tree or similar? You don't really need that one especially if you are an MM appreciater ( tor?) You deserve better!
My dad made tennis courts and my brother still does. I feel a if I ought to at least appreciate tennis but I can't. All I appreciated was the old tennis balls and conkers he would bring home . If the raquets were a lot less designed and the flight more random, I might be interested. To me, modern day tennis is very much like that retro ping pong game but with people and grunts. About as interesting as watching cars go meeeewwww, meeeewwww round a race track or watching some bloke in unfortunate trousers hitting a ball with a stick, looking at the sky and watching the ball land in a bit of grass.
With the premiership you still get the odd surprise like Leicester. Tennis had the last surprise with pat cash I reckon. Or were stich and krajcek outsiders or just recipients of luck and the big three under performing?
I just look at who's playing Wimbledon and one of Djokovich, Federer or Nadal will be in the final possibly in the past with the Scottish player and the big three will be the winner whether they're in the final with another big three or any other lucky enough to get to the final to make the numbers up and the big three winner look good.
I'm simply uninterested. Tennis is a game you play if you like it in summer. It's boring to watch. Like snooker or darts. If there was a way to make it less inevitable that a big three wins it as in put in a element of doubt it jeopardy for them then perhaps there's a reason to watch it.
BTW what is the best view to watch a game? From one end or in the middle of the side so you have to keep turning your head with every return?
Are you talking about my post? @Dovefromabove. If yes, I totally agree. I know nothing. I don't/ can't get it but I have no problem with people who do. Enjoy it. I don't get rap, jazz grunge, Shostakovich etc etc but it's good that people can find something they enjoy. Good harmless fun.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
