Surely ",taking the knee,"is suplicating oneself, meaning you feel yourself to be of lower value, than others makes no sense to me

I'll happily take your rain @Nanny Beach , if you'll waft it up this way. Despite all the rain we had in May, the soil is dry as dust again now.

Yesterday was at least 5 degrees C hotter than today here, and muggy with it. Today was much more pleasant (to me anyway).

I'm feeling a bit left behind by all the abbreviations that are springing up in posts. I've stopped looking them up and hope that I'm not missing anything important. RSVP. OHMS DVLA

Just googled EU press conference flags. Loads of photos from various events most fairly recent too. There were several of Merkel day in front of three EU flags and three Chinese flags alternated. Some were old eu conferences too. Flags in press conferences are very old thing in many countries. If the UK hasn't done it was much but they've still done it in the past. Not sure it's exactly Boris bringing in American presentational style. If only there wasn't some previous PM known for his presidential style. ;)

You should try to understand it when a teenager sends you a message with only emoticons! Apparently you can type them in as a kind of symbol message. I only know happy, sad and wink smilies. The rest mean nothing to me, a bit like you with abbreviations and initialisms.

Fortunately, I don't know any teenagers.
I'm assuming  that the use of such abbreviations is age appropriate.  If I used them it would be the equivalent of dad dancing. Can ladies of a certain age dad dance?
