@BenCotto, good luck with that last car we bought, again knew what we wanted just wanted to do the deal,  sales guy kept disappearing to "talk to his manager ", we were there for hours,  in the end I said,  are you able to sell us a car or not?  if not get someone in here who can, if you disappear again we will walk out & we won't be buying anything.   We got the car.  I  will never deal with that franchise again even if they are the only ones who have what we want.

@B3 - one of the reasons it took us so long was reading loads of online reviews to find one that would suit us, handle well and be reliable.   Couldn't bring myself to trust Renault, Peugeot, Citroën, anything Italian or obviously US and refuse to buy Japanese or Korean as I like profits, jobs and investments to stay in Europe.

Whittled it down to 2 models on the same chassis but one VW and one SEAT.  Test drove the VW and, as ever with VW, it felt cramped so we bought the SEAT.   It took longer to fill in all the paperwork than to do a deal with the salesman.

If you don't go in already knowing what you want it can take forever and involve a great deal of verbal diarrhoea.

Spookily, the Jazz was the car we liked yesterday so based on rave reviews on a gardening forum,I've booked a test drive for tomorrow.

Honda don't go wrong. Over 30 years ago we had a Renault built like a tank of estate no power steering.

When OH needed a new car we set off to Derby to find the car showroom we intended going to, was near the Derby County ground, and it was a match day. We went to the Volvo place instead, walked in, saw what he needed, had a test drive in pouring rain, and bought it.  When the 7.5 ton truck ran into the back of him at speed at an Island on the A5, it probably saved his life. The car came back 6 inch shorter than it went out, Volvo rebuilt it, (3 month job including a like for like car hire) and it still runs like a dream. We intend keeping it until it decides to be a problem.

Hondas are built in the UK and provide jobs for UK residents.

Yes, but the profits go back to Japan and if economic circumstances or trading rules change those jobs are easily exported and the factory closed.  I'd rather support European companies and jobs, especially now that it's so hard to get UK goods here.

Horrid man and lousy vacuum cleaners.  Bought one in Jan 2016 when he was still manufacturing in the UK.  Never again.

I don’t know how much mobile homes are nowadays, we bought one for cash in 1976 it cost £1300.  According to an internet site, that equates to £80,000+ in today’s money. Doesn’t sound right but maybe.

£11700 in 2021 according to the calculator I used.  Certainly sounds more realistic.

Hondas WERE built in the UK but their massive plant in Swindon has closed in the last couple of years.  Great shame, but doesn't detract from Honda's well earned reputation for reliability and quality.
