Reminds me of an incident with my daughter on holiday in America last week, police siren, pulled her over, they all put their hands in the air, (watching too many US cop films) he asked if it was her car, she said ‘no, it’s hired’. He said ‘Rennal?’ she said no, it’s a Toyota, By then she’d twigged, he meant Rental. He asked if she had her license with her, yes, it’s in the boot, He looked puzzled at her sandals, ah yes, Trunk, by then they’re both laughing, ‘Get in and enjoy your holiday ma’am ‘ she thought she was in a real life stickup.
I remember a line in the sit-com Early Doors. Phil and Nige, the inept police officers, are questioning someone who witnessed an indecent exposure by a man in his car.
”I have to ask this. Was he in a state of arousal?” ”No. A Ford Escort.”
Not a word as such but "Construction Welfare Unit". New one on me and no idea what it means but we are going to have one parked out here for the next 3 months it will take to re build the Churchyard wall.
