I see solitary crows flying over here in very determined fashion, A to B. Their wingbeats are very audible if it's still, with no breeze. Rooks are a different matter. Gangs of them, flying for the fun of it, wheelies mid-air, handbrake turns......
That has me stumped @B3. "Put your hands in the air, this is a stick-up" sprang to mind, often said menacingly by a man with a gun in old films.... I could Google it but I don't think I'll bother....
Using research when what has actually happened is googlesearch. Shakespeare would have got credit for inventing that word - so I'm claiming copyright on it.
Reminds me of an incident with my daughter on holiday in America last week, police siren, pulled her over, they all put their hands in the air, (watching too many US cop films) he asked if it was her car, she said ‘no, it’s hired’. He said ‘Rennal?’ she said no, it’s a Toyota, By then she’d twigged, he meant Rental. He asked if she had her license with her, yes, it’s in the boot, He looked puzzled at her sandals, ah yes, Trunk, by then they’re both laughing, ‘Get in and enjoy your holiday ma’am ‘ she thought she was in a real life stickup.

Uptick is a silly word imported from America which means increase. It adds nothing to the definition other than, in my view, making you sound a bit vacuous in the same way super does for very and gifted does for given.
I’ve just seen something written in arsebook, I have gift this book 3 times now. At least say gifted if you have to say that at all. This was a book publisher.

I was reading about the insane sentence handed down to a woman in Saudi Arabia when I was distracted by that word.
